well it's been a whiles and some mean people have suggested I update my journal (probably to ensure they get a good return on their effort in maintaining me on their friends list the greeddy capitalist bastards).
Anyhow I have moved and lost my old net connection so my email address has changed (new one in details page).
I now stroll across the Sydney Harbour Bridge to work each day (40 minute walk - ought to return me to some sense of non tubby) except when it is persisting down as it has for the past few days. It's a nice stroll.
I have been working rather stupidly recently with 36 hour shifts not being uncommon. The money is nice (especially with the cost of moving) and Dan has not completely lost it yet and is being quite understanding which is rather splendid.
My job has gone through a couple of changes in focus as the Royal Commission has been closing down but fortunately the company has branched out into a few new areas and I feel secure in my job. Currently I am a golden child with the bosses due to some rather cool stuff I have done (like completing projects no one else could even start hehehe) and am about to get a new contract with (hopefully) a substantial pay rise.
The long running "will I go to the world championships for Naginata" question has been finally answered with a _very_ nice donation from the International Naginata federation which will cover a lot of the cost of getting there and jumping around in a dress. I suspect there is a bit of a caveat there in that they now expect me to do very well. I hope I do, it'd be nice to come home with another medal. So if anyone is in the San Jose area at the end of June I ought to be there wearing a dress and smelling rather bad. I should at least pass my grading which will be good as I am unable to grade here in Australia due to the lack of senior people in this country.
I have had a few ideas recently of things I ought to try and make and am looking at trying to dig up information on patents and that kind of tedious legal garbage, so if anyone knows a bit about that, letting me know where to go and what to do would be cool... I will eventually get around to finding it out myself but, based on past ideas, it will tkae so long that someone else will ahve the damn idea and do all that stuff before I get there hehehe. One of the ideas in particular seems to have a pretty big marketable range and talking about it with some friends they can't find flaws in the basic idea so it may actually work which would be cool.
Dan and my two birds have been becoming more and more insane as time goes by which is probably indicative of the mental state of their owners ;) One of them took to pecking it's feathers out quite badly so that has been troublesome, I think she has stopped now which is good. I have been giving her lots of different foods and things to play with and she seems happy enough, just wants to look a little different I suppose.
My brewing has been doing very well recently with some very nice batches coming through and being drunk (possibly this accounts for the current state of tubby ness).
Aside from that not an awful lot of interesting things happening, I just wander around smiling and everything seems to be pretty good.
