Winter Crafting

Over the winter I have been jewelry-crafting with chainmail (20 gauge, 1/8th inch). So far the only finished pieces are the byzantine chains, which are far simpler than they look. In crafting, there is something comforting about working metal, the solid tension underneath your fingertips having an undeniable appeal. Not to mention the warm, productive feeling of crafting and watching those HBO series you've been meaning to get to (the first two seasons of True Blood and just starting Rome, each excellent although very different).

The two necklaces that I'm quite proud of include (with neckline courtesy of twilight_image):

Silver droplets complement the stainless steel nicely, not to mention coming in packs of 50 for $3.

I really like this piece. The red droplets are quite pretty and the even numbered pattern of droplets seemed to work out. Part of the joy of the droplets is that you can experiment with different combinations, exercising your creativity.

A big thank you to noradannan for teaching and getting me started on chainmailing and arianhwyvar for the Fire Mountain Gems logistics for the droplets.
