Telephony Changes

For a while, I HAD considered renewing the VOIP home phone line for another year, just in case there was somewhere that I might have forgotten to change my primary number to the mobile phone.

I went through my lists of businesses/doctors/utilities again the past couple of days, finding a couple I had neglected to change the number, so went ahead and changed it.

Satisfied all the MAJOR outlets were now covered, I called Ooma this morning and canceled the service. The representative tried her best to keep me as a customer, even offering a very basic plan. Told her there was no need to keep it, since I only had the "landline" mainly for mom, because she wasn't much into cellphones. Besides, after mom passed, sometimes it would be over two months between calls on the phone. The landline was basically just a dust collector now. No need to keep paying for something not being used. She also wanted to know if I wanted to keep the old number, but since I'd already given everyone "major" the new number, I didn't see the point. The "old number" had been carried over from the AT&T copper line days.

The VOIP service was set to auto-renew for another year in a few days, so I canceled just in time.
