Mom Is Home Again

Got a call from the funeral home early this afternoon. They said mom's urn was ready to be picked up. They also had a couple more papers I needed to sign. When I went in Saturday to do the identity confirmation, they informed me that the pre-paid cremation plan she had paid for back in 2010 only included a plain black box with a plastic liner for the ashes. I wanted something better than that, so I looked over their selection. Found a nice black and brass one, so chose it. The funeral home couldn't get mom's other insurance info that day, since the insurance division was closed on the weekend, so I didn't find out until today what my remaining balance to pay for the better urn would be. For the better urn, I had to pay an additional $324. After paying that, everything is now fully paid for, nothing else is owed. In another week or two, I should have the six death certificates she paid for in the original plan.

Only issue I have is not having a "showy" place for it. This old house doesn't have any mantle pieces or shelves mainly meant for "displays", so I currently have it sitting on the dining area table in the kitchen. We rarely ever used that table for eating over the years. The past few years, the most use it got was from mom assembling her jigsaw puzzles on it.
