School, College

First off, I'd like to officially announce that, barring any catastrophes, I'll be joining Harvard College's Class of 2010 next fall. In the meantime, I'll try not to fail anything. After a whirlwind tour of four fine institutions, I decided that Cambridge was the place for me. In the process, I was interviewed by a New York Times reporter doing a story on this time of year, when students pick between colleges and the whole college game is reversed. I was hardly expecting to be in the story and I certainly wasn't thinking about how many people read the NY Times, so it was a bit of a shock when I got to school on Wednesday to have Clare acting like I had said something terrible to the reporter. There's always some simplification involved in writing such an article, so it isn't the full story, even though nothing is exactly incorrect.

I didn't apply anywhere I didn't think I'd be happy to go, so what I was talking about with the reporter was the way I was trying to decide between such excellent places. The answer was with difficulty, taking meticulous notes, (that's right, I took pages of notes) and observing my gut reaction. I'm still not sure I made the right move, but I think I did a pretty good job all things considered.

At any rate, I still have to suffer through the last of this year. No offense to all my friends, but I hate high school. It sucks, always has, and now the suckage is getting unbearable. I can't wait for it to be over. I need a 5 on the BC calc exam, which shouldn't be too difficult to pull off, with a little preparation. The physics exam is going to require a large amount of preparation, but my main goal is to make sure I don't do so poorly in physics class that all hell breaks loose. I hear hell is unpleasant.
