"The Ocean"
The wind blows through my hair
It dances, mimicking the clouds
I've been here many times before
I've seen the ocean's shimmering blue
Felt its cool breeze on my face
And smelled* the sent of salt in the air
But, this time I'll leave it for good
this time I'll leave the roaring
the crash of the waves on the rocks below
I'll leave the sound of seagulls singing their songs to me
I'll leave the sun warming my face as I lie on the shore
The feel of the cool water just barelyu reaching my feet
As I walk along the wet sand
i take my last breath,
The last time I will ever breath in ocean air,
And I turn to leave
In my mind I will always be there
Even if I am somewhere deep in a desert
I will remember the ocean
And I will remember the sounds it made
And the sent of the salt and the sand
And most of all, the sun on my face
As I walk along the shore
With the waters just barely reaching my feet -- Maxfield Stanton
