The city pretty much shut down yesterday due to the snow, and I've been hearing the sounds of plows and people scraping ice from their cars. I enjoy walking around while it's snowing; perhaps even more so than in the rain. It's nice to have a real snowfall after a couple of rather warm winters in Nashville. Foggy walks may still be my favorite though. For some reason, when it gets below freezing, I don't feel the cold as much, even if I'm wearing the same amount (or a couple of times less) clothing. Yesterday, in the snow, when the official wind chill was 21 degrees, I was out without gloves or a scarf and felt less chilly than I did last week with scarf and gloves and it was in the forties. Maybe it's that there is less total water in the air when it's cold, and it's the humidity that chills me when it's technically (thermally?) warmer.
On an unrelated note: Last year, since I don't really go in for the holiday stuff, I decided to spend the 25th reading, as there usually isn't much to do on account of Christmas, and television is usually full of recent holiday movies and A Christmas Story marathon. While I like A Christmas Story, I'm generally not up for multiple viewings on one day.
So now I'm asking for recommendations of books that I probably should have read years ago, but for some reason or other haven't.
