The River
A song for my HoF... "The River" by Bruce Springsteen.
The version I have in mind is the live performance which is on his 1986 live compilation... It starts with a lengthy monologue about when he was growing up, and his troubled relationship with his father. He talks about getting drafted to go to Vietnam but he didn't pass the physical... and how when he came home and told his father "they didn't take me", that despite the parental feud his dad said "that's good."
So anyway, the actual song is good too. Depressing.
