For Darrin's Recording Artist Hall of Fame (aka DRAHoF)... Public Enemy.
I'm a bit of a black militant at heart. Or at least I'm very interested in that sort of thing... Malcolm X, Louis Farrakhan... So I really like the political lyrics and attitude of Public Enemy's stuff from the '80's and 90's. That whole thing with the S1W's precision marching and the fake uzi machine guns on stage sort of also appeals to me, as well as the bizarre character of Flavor Flav and of course Chuck D's powerful vocals... I'm also a big fan of sampling in music, which they used a lot of.
