The Chronic
Hooray for me. At noon today I am leaving work and not returning for two entire weeks. WOO, and indeed HOO !
But nevermind that... A few days ago, I bought "The Chronic", a CD by Dr. Dre from the early '90's. The reviews I've read of this album say it's one of the greatest rap albums of all time. I like "Straight Outta Compton" by NWA so I figured this would be a good buy... but after listening to it, I don't much like it. I've listened to it about 3 or 4 times even, and I still don't like it. Too much swearing, drug references and sexist humor that fails to be funny. Snoop Doggy Dogg is the only good thing about it. I much prefer Public Enemy and Run-DMC to this gansta rap stuff...
I give it a rating of 1.5 stars. AMG and Rolling Stone both give it 5 stars. What do they hear that I don't hear ???

Lola vs Powerman... by the Kinks.... My rating = 5 RS = 2 (?????!!!???!???)
Little Duece Coupe / All Summer Long My rating = 4.5 AMG = 2.5 RS = 2.5
F-Punk by Big Audio Dynamite....... My rating = 5 AMG = 2 RS = 2
Depeche Mode 101........................ My rating = 1.5 AMG = 4
Soundgarden A-Sides..................... My rating = 1.5 AMG = 4.5 RS = 4
