And if you want another thing to watch with some strong females, try Pillars of the Earth. I haven't read the book, but the miniseries is great. There is quite a bit of sex scenes, but whatever, I can deal with that because half of the main cast, at least the side that the audience is meant to root for, are women. Strong women who don't let the men that oppose them keep them down. I would give you some examples, but that would be spoilory.
Well, one that is dealt with in, like, the first part. The princess was supposed to take the thrown when her father died, at least until her son was of age, but once he DID die her cousin took the throne. Instead of meekly accepting it, she runs of too France with her half-brother and they build an army to try to take back the thrown. We actually see her in armor, and yeah, it's pretty awesome.
Of course, the story being set in the time period it's set in, most of the other girls that are shown are prostitutes.

Some of the coolest women were prostitutes. Some were also pirates, or Harriet Tubman.
