The tinkles of a cup at his side draw Sherlock back from his memories and he looks up to see John turning away from him, taking his own cup of tea back to the table.
That wild chase has been two weeks ago, but Sherlock's mind always returns to that one moment when John slipped and fell.
Thankfully there was a roof just beneath the plank they were running over, otherwise John would have surely fallen to his death.
Nevertheless is was pure luck that John did not break his neck falling the few meters and only ended up with a badly strained and bruised leg - starting from the hip down to the ankle.
it is painful and John's still limping, but it will heal with time.
It is nothing major, but Sherlock just can not forget that moment or how his heart stuttered when he looked down to see John's unmoving body.
For whatever reason Sherlock just can not stop thinking about it.
Observing John Sherlock has to realize that he is not the only one still thinking about it.
Ignoring his own cup Sherlock conitnues to watch John as he reaches the table in the kitchen.
John carefully sits in one chair and stretches the leg slowly, a short grimace tugging at his lips.
Pained
Realising that he forgot his spoon, John sighs unhappily, unwilling (unable?) to rise again.
Helpless
He drinks his tea, his eyes lost in thought and there are shadows of a war dancing in them as memories from his last recent injury arise.
Haunted
Mrs. Hudson enters the room with a tablet, telling John to remain in his seat while she prepares the breakfast for him and a frown darkens John's face for a moment.
Useless
Sherlock has always been able to read people, read their minds and their bodies.
Most of these signs and hidden messages are the same for almost all people, so if you learned this language once you can understand everybody.
Sherlock wonders when he started to think that John has such silent language all of his own and more importantly when he started to learn to understand it.
Now he sees and understands the silent words hidden in John's body and he is surprised by the amount of worry these cause him.
They need a distraction, both of them and seeing the newspaper in John's hands Sherlock has the perfect idea.
Sherlock jumps from the sofa, takes his coat and stands in the doorway to the kitchen to look at John (Tired / Worried / Sad).
John may never speak these words, but that does not change the fact that Sherlock is listening.
"We are leaving."
