Author: Alaylith
Rating: PG
Universe: BBC (S1); based on ACD's "Silver Blaze"
Characters: Colonel Ross, Sherlock
WordCount: 221b (yay)
Summary: Colonel Ross takes no orders from someone beneath his status. Until it is Holmes who demands help.
A/N: Well, this may not exactly fit the prompt, but I got the idea for this while believing that Ross was a Lord (like the other stable owner). So it may sound a bit weird for him being so snobbish... That is the money talking then. :p
But I managed a 221b drabble! :D And I really like the last sentence (that was the first thing that came to my mind and the drabble is based on that sentence ^^).

It sounds like the hounds of Hell are storming the yard, but as Colonel Ross and his servants run outside there is only one wooden wagon with one horse.
On top of it Sherlock Holmes with a manic expression of panic on his face.
"Call for help, now!" he barks at Ross as he jumps from the wagon, going to the back.
Ross' hackles rise - he is a man who takes no commands from anyone. Especially not from a man so beneath his own standing.
But as he circles the wagon and sees how Holmes and his stable boys' lift the bloody body from it, a shudder runs through his body.
These men are not even near his own status, in any other circumstances he would not even look twice at them.
Especially the doctor, while he can respect his military career, there is nothing extraordinary about him.
And Holmes himself... is just peculiar.
Nevertheless, a man's life is at risk and Ross is a man of honour. As such he is willing to ignore his own pride and do as he is told.
But as Ross turns to call for help, he looks back for a second and thinks, that he has never seen anything more noble than Holmes cradling his wounded friend close and his hands splattered by blood.
