Withdrawl, I haz it

My PC is in the shop.

Ever since WoW patch 3.2 came out in August I've had disconnection problems, and they got worse after 3.3 (to the extent that I was avoiding dungeons and cities completely - I mean, my toons would d/c in Exodar at 4 am!). Over Christmas I played on my Dad's PC and managed to PUG my priest to 40, but then I came home and faced the d/c problems again. I implemented all the suggested fixes on the blogs and forums but that only gave me marginal improvement (disabling the combat log was a good move, but even that didn't help in server peak times). So, the PC is getting a RAM and graphics card upgrade* and I'm without WoW for a few days.

I'm twitchy.

It's not like I haven't had breaks - I would generally have a couple of WoW-free days a week, especially after a heavy session - but it was always my choice, and I could return to the game any time I wanted. Now, however, I can't play at all and it's all I want to do. I've spent the time usefully - reading up on my class stats, gear and rotations; browsing WoWwiki and wow.com; looking at YouTube videos - but that has just made me all the more eager to play.

*sigh*

Maybe this is nature's way of telling me I need to write more fanfic.

*Yes, I know WoW doesn't need a lot of grunt, but my last upgrade was 2005. I've spent the last 5 years writing, not playing, so I didn't need any more memory ... until now.
