HAPPY 2009!!!!

Good morning LJ land. It is currently -17 here in Palmer Alaska. Last night was fun. We had our friend over and made her dinner. We played a game of scrabble and drank a little wine (I barely sipped a quarter of a shot) and ate some magic cookie bars.

After my friend left, we watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (a late arrival from Netflix) until almost midnight, then my boys put on a spectacular fireworks show for me. It was probably -24 or so when they were doing it so they kept having to come in and switch lighters when one would freeze up. I was keeping them warm. In all, it was a wonderful evening.

My health has finally taken a turn for the better as of last night. I haven't posted lately but I was running some pretty good high fevers over the weekend and was in the ER on Saturday night with a blocked catheter and feeling like a Mac truck hit me. I guess I have a bladder infection and the antibiotics I was on weren't doing jack to stop it. They put me on Cipro, but none of the stores in the area had the strength the doc ordered so they gave me a lesser strength. It didn't work as quickly as I expected it to and I still felt run over and feverish as of yesterday morning but by afternoon, after the final dose of Cipro, my fever broke and I haven't had one since. Last night I started mega doses of Levaquin and feel pretty good today. I am trying not to jinx myself. I saw my doctor on Tuesday and he took out all but 2 staples (almost 30 staples!!!) and said that I am healing amazingly well so hopefully that is true for my insides as well.

Tuesday will be a big day for me. I'll hopefully get my catheter out and receive good news that my bladder is fully healed and ready to function again. I will probably be back to work shortly after that, probably on a half-day basis. I am still mentally tired and I read in an article somewhere that for every day you spent in the hospital, figure a week of recovery. I was in the hospital for 5 days so 5 weeks of recovery?? That seems pretty long. I am ready to get back into the swing of things and have WAY too much work to do to just sit at home. I just sit at a desk at work so I should be okay, although I read from several other women that sometimes you way more than you should when you THINK you're better.

Time to get back to resting and healing!

I hope everyone has a great year!!!
