If you don't mind horribly, I'm going to show you the work of another poet, who's work is simply thrilling. This one I received from them pretty early on, and I've kept it against their wishes, but only because it was so good, and this isn't what inspired me to be a poet...at least not the first time, but it inspired me to pick it back up, and I'd like to thank them for that through this...even though I haven't written anything in such a long while in here, I'm sorry I'll get back on that right away. So, back to where I was, this is a good poem, I enjoyed it, and I hope you will too.
I have no exemption
Pained with aspiration
Of a light
Which I can no longer see.
I reach out into an empty space
An impassible silence that stands between my reality.
Futureless,
Yet aspired beyond reason.
I undergo a feeling
That wrings me dry of longing
Until I am nothing but a demoralized shadow
Only seen with the flicker of your flame.
I reside in the present
Letting my essence, my life, my devotion,
Slip between my fingers
Like sand
Like sand
In the end when I see myself, I am like sand.
I look out at the world from between the bars of this cage,
Astray of what I once knew,
Seeing life as if it were nothing.
Where am I now?
My name is forgotten
Right after being said,
Nothing I ever did was good enough
And I know it never will be.
That is all that I envision of myself
To never be more than...
Ok, that wasn't supposed to be "...", it was their name, but I'm not giving that one away, toodles.
P.S. I hope you liked it, if you didn't you're a communist!!
