Landing in Queenstown on a clear winter day is a sight that could inspire boredom only in the most jaded. Do it sometime. Improve your life.
I can beat that! Fly to Wanaka in a DC-3. This involves clearing Lindis Pass by a few hundred feet. We were really disappointed when, due to congestion, we had to hold for ten minutes before landing i.e. circle over the upper Clutha valley, under blue skies (and the level of the mountain-tops, obviously).
Yeah, they pulled that one on us too. Apparently the 737s that Qantas uses don't have those fancy navigational tools, which was why we were sitting on the runway delayed while other planes were happily taking off.
NYC? Cooool... It's one of the places I definitely plan to go sometime. I never heard of anyone moving there for the weather though!
