I don't know how this reads, really. So if it's cracky, I blame lack of sleep and a rusty muse. (Sera: Hey! Not my fault!)
An understanding of the story of Quest for Camelot is assumed, and crazy stuff happened with the names, so just... yeah. Whatever. Am not really awake while writing this post. ^^'
Title: Quick Quest (lol, failtitle)
Fandom: Digimon/Quest for Camelot x-over (hints of another fandom if you get the joke)
Pairing: Davis/Ken a bit, Matt/Tai if you squint.
Rating: G
Note: This concept was actually originally for the
101_kisses challenge, whatever number, chains; bonds theme. Might still be, cuz bonds -> knights + kings -> chains of loyalty -> Quest for Camelot... something like that. I dunno. Whatever. Sleeping soon. x_x
"You said your name was what again?"
"Davis. Davis Motomiya, sir."
"And you want to become a knight of Camelot, is that right?"
"Yes, sir! It is what I've dreamed of since I was small!"
"So... only a few months ago then?"
"w-what? Uh, sir?"
The brown haired knight let out a loud burst of laughter that drew the eye of many passerby. The boy fidgeted where he stood, trying to maintain his composure, but not sure if he was being laughed at, tested, or what. "Sir?"
The knight clapped him on the shoulder and gave a friendly smile that Davis couldn't help but return, if slightly shyly. "It was a joke, Davis. Or, should I say, squire Davis?" The boy's eyes lit up, and the knight just kept smiling. "Come on.
Let's get you a room and some new clothes. You'll need some brushing up before I can show you around."
"Y-yes, sir!" Davis scrambled to pick up his things and follow after the knight, who turned around to grab one of the bags the boy was struggling to carry. "S-sir! I can car-"
"Tai."
"What?" Davis asked, tilting his head slightly in confusion.
"That's my name. Sir Taichi, technically, but you can just call me Tai. And I bet you walked all the way to Camelot. I'll help you carry stuff this time, but only because I don't want you passing out on me, okay?"
"O-of course. Th-thank you, sir. Tai." The knight grinned and Davis couldn't help but smile back.
"I'm really joking about the carrying stuff thing. At least a little. Working hard makes surviving here easier, so I won't go easy on you, but, if you really need help, don't hesitate to ask me. I'll do what I can."

A blonde knight stood in front of Si- Tai, blocking his entrance into the courtyard. Davis frowned from where he stood, wishing that the man would get out of the way so they could get to lunch, but apparently no one was listening.
"Sir Yamato," Tai almost growled, and Davis filed away the name for later.
"Sir Taichi." The reply was cool, but it was ice over magma, ready to explode at any moment.
And explode it did - into laughter and claps on the back and smiles, each and every last one confusing the absolute hell out of Davis, who stood shellshocked. Tai turned around, one arm slung around the other man's shoulders, and smiled.
"Davis, this is Matt. Sir Yamato, but, if he's okay with it, you can just call him Matt. He's my best friend and a great swordsman. If you ever need anything and I'm not around, go to this guy. He'll help you out."
"Hey, don't put words into my mouth!" The blonde protested, though Davis was pretty sure that he was just playing off of what Tai had said. "But yeah, you can call me Matt. It's nice to meet you, Davis."
"You too, sir. Matt."
Tai was looking around, curiosity changing to confusion as he seemed to be unable to find what - or who - he was looking for.
"Where's your-"
Matt shook his head. "I don't know. I... Did you know? Who he was?"
Tai shook his head and opened his mouth, but Matt gave an answer before the question could be asked.
"Sam's brother." Tai's mouth stayed open as Davis stared at both in confusion.

"Who is Sam?" Davis asked, much later, after the meetings and feasting and everything had been done, and both knight and squire were getting ready to retire for the night.
Tai smirked a little. "Not one for beating around the bush, are you?" When Davis didn't respond, Tai sighed and answered the question. "He was a friend of ours. Mine and Matt's. He was made a squire about the same time we were, and we all helped each other out in our tasks and such. Until... well, I don't know what happened exactly," Tai admitted, scratching his head and shrugging, "but... things changed. And fast. One day nothing could split us apart, the next... Sam was gone. The boy we had grown up with was erased, and someone- something took his place. He rebelled against the statutes of Camelot, and took some other dissenters with him, and... disappeared."
Davis studied the ground at his feet and mumbled an apology for bringing up the obviously sad memories.
Tai just shook his head. "It's okay. It's good to talk about these things, sometimes. But... it turns out that the boy who was Matt's squire - apparently up until a few hours ago, at least - was none other than Sam's younger brother." The older man sighed as he stared out of the window that looked out over the walls of Camelot to the countryside below. "It seems that blood always calls to those that carry it."
"What do you mean?" Davis asked, moving to stand next to his knight and look out over the castle and lands that he would one day help protect.
"He's missing. It's only been a little while, but none have seen him. I know that Matt is just as worried as I am that he may have followed his brother's ways." The knight sighed and turned to his bed, obviously getting ready to end the day. "I don't know what that means for us, but you'll want to make sure you're rested. Get some sleep, and I'll see you in the morning."
"Yes, sir," Davis said before entering his own room - little more than a closet, but better than nothing at all - and attempting to sleep, though it was long in coming, his thoughts filled with mysterious boys and mysterious brothers who disappeared into shadows.
***
"Where are you going?" Davis didn't expect the other boy to spin around so violently, but he had good enough reflexes to dodge the gauntleted arm that flung through the space his head had been in.
When he spun, Davis could see that the other boy was certainly blessed with good looks. His complexion was a little pale, but not unhealthy, and it fit his dark hair well, though part of that could just be the low lighting. His eyes appeared to be black, but Davis guessed that they were probably a different color, as most everything was made darker by the night. But, after all that, the squire noticed that the other boy was carrying something wrapped in rags - something about the size of a longsword.
Excalibur? Davis wondered, having heard that the sword had gone missing just that afternoon. The young squire tried to hide the fact that he had seen the weapon and was suspicious about it, but as he looked at the other boy, he saw his eyes flash purple and tried not to cringe in guilt.
"Go away," the boy said, his hands tightening only just slightly on the wrappings.
Davis just shook his head. "No, I won't." He frowned a little then, then asked, "You're Sam's brother, aren't you? Sir Matt's squire?" The other boy clung even more to the weapon he held, almost as if it was his last connection to the world. His eyes dropped from Davis' to the floor, and the taller boy knew that he was right in his guess. "What's your name?" He asked, trying to keep the boy from running without having to hold him down physically.
"K-ken. I..." The boy - Ken - closed his eyes for a moment, then suddenly opened them, staring straight at Davis. "Go away! Before I make something bad happen to you!" Ken's voice was much stronger now, and Davis took a step back, startled and a little frightened by the sudden change. The boy spun and ran, disappearing into the night, and Davis only paused for a small moment before taking off after him.

"Why did you follow me? Do you have a death wish? Uhn!"
Davis shook his head as he finished tying off the bandage that he had wrapped around Ken's chest and shoulder. "I'm not the one who got shot. I don't think you should be talking about death wishes. And what were you thinking, anyway? Jumping in the way of that arrow..."
Ken rolled over onto his uninjured side, facing away from the other boy. "I don't know," he whispered, his voice only just audible.
They sat there for a moment, both caught up in their own thoughts until Davis broke the silence with a smile and two words.
"Thank you."

"Why haven't you taken the sword already?" Ken asked one day, turning to face his companion-slash-stalker. "You just keep following me, but you haven't tried to take the sword and return to Camelot! Why?"
The brown haired boy gave a small smile and shrugged. "Well, you don't seem to be going anywhere quickly, and sooner or later our path will lead us back to civilization. Until then, I'll do my best to convince you to return willingly."
"I don't understand you," the younger boy sighed and shook his head as he turned to continue on.
***
"See? What did I tell you?" Davis crowed as they stared out at the walls of Camelot - not far from where they had initially entered the Forbidden Forest.
"How?" Ken asked, clutching the still-wrapped sword to his chest. "But I followed all the..." Ken's words and Davis' shouts trailed off as twin pillars of smoke began to rise from the city before them, followed by more as they stared. Without a word, they charged down the hill, moving as quickly as they could for the castle before them.
***
"Sam! Sam! Why? Why would you do this?"
"Don't you see, Ken? You and I are better than all of these people. It is we who should be the rulers of Camelot! We have the power, but only one thing lay in the way. Excalibur! Which you stole away for long enough for me to overthrow that prat Arthur. I must thank you for that, dear brother."
"No!" Ken shouted, and Davis moved to get a better position for a shot at Sam - he would only get one.
"No?" The older boy asked, tilting his head a little as he walked over to his younger brother. "No what?"
"I... I didn't mean to steal the sword! I don't know how I did it! I don't-"
"Ha!" Sam began to laugh, and Davis was barely able to keep himself from swinging down there to make the man's laughing face meet the cold ground under his feet. "Of course, dear brother. You wouldn't remember. That's part of the enchantment, after all."
Davis couldn't wait another moment, and took the renewed laughter as his cue. He jumped on the beam that was attached to a sturdy part of the ceiling far above, and had to resist crowing with adrenaline as he swung down, the beam catching Sam across the side as he turned when he heard the sound of creaking rope.
The hit threw the older man to the ground, and Davis jumped off the swinging beam, landing near Ken. He held his hand out to the boy, but the look that came across his face made Davis turn - just enough to throw him almost out of the path of Sam's sword, which caught him on the shoulder, digging in painfully, though it was better than the decapitation he had avoided.
Without a word, Ken slipped under Davis' arm and drew a sword- No. The sword. Excalibur. The silver weapon gleamed, defying the overcast weather that threatened to rain on them through the open ceiling, and Davis knew he had never seen anything more inspiring to this point.
Whether it was the sword of that Davis had never seen Ken's ability, it was only moments before Sam was disarmed and being held at swordpoint until the knights could return. Matt and Tai were the first to reach them, and they quickly took control of the situation, though Davis could tell that both of them were utterly confused - probably having assumed that Davis was at fault for stealing Excalibur (which still was possible, from their view) or else Ken was, who was currently holding on to the majestic sword.
King Arthur was not far behind them, followed by a number of other knights that quickly surrounded the two boys before anyone could say anything. The knights moved only to let Arthur pass through, and Davis knelt when he realized that he was staring at the king that he had heard so much about, but had never really gotten to meet. He tried to tug the other boy down with him, but when Ken didn't move, Davis looked up, staring at the other boy that he had come to know over the days they had spent wandering the Forbidden Forest.
Ken bowed, holding out the sword to the King, and spoke. "Yes, sire. I am the one who stole your sword. I know not what possessed me, but that is not an excuse. I return Excalibur to you now, and I will accept that any punishment you see fit to give for this treason."
The king took the sword and raised it high, saying nothing while Ken and Davis both cringed before him - one fearing loss of life, the other fearing to lose a newfound friend. After a long moment, Arthur lowered the sword, and both boys relaxed a little, though both were very confused.
"Kneel," the king commanded, and Ken did so, looking over at Davis for a moment, a look of surprise on his face. "For the both of you, I give you only this command. Return to your training. Be squires for your knights until you too become knights of the realm. Learn to live by the Knight's Code, and guard Camelot as you have shown you can. This is my will to you."
Arthur sheathed his sword and turned away to deal with the man that his knights still held, and Davis turned to Ken, wonder on his face.
"We... We're okay!" Davis said, his voice quickly escalating to a shout. "We can still be knights too! He practically said he wanted us to be his knights!"
Ken, still in a state of shock, could only smirk and correct, "He did say he wanted us to be knights. It is his 'will', after all," while walking away, out of the main room and corridors until he could find a semi-secluded place to stop for a moment and gather his thoughts.
But Davis hadn't gotten rid of his stalker tendencies yet, and he followed Ken. When they were appropriately away from where anyone might come across them without them noticing, Davis grabbed Ken and pushed him up against a wall, where the smaller boy cringed, expecting violence.
Davis shook his head a little before laying a chaste kiss on Ken's lips, causing the younger boy to gasp in surprise. Davis smiled at the other's confused look, and even blushed a little as Ken's hand came up to his lips, wonder beating out the confusion on his face.
"I'm sure Tai- Sir Tai wants to talk to me and get the whole story, and you should probably go tell Sir Matt about everything too. But I'll be seeing you again soon, okay?"
Ken could only nod as Davis bounded away, and he grinned as the other boy disappeared around the next corner. "Why did I leave Camelot again?" He wondered aloud, calming his pounding heart before he followed after the other boy to go inform his knight master of the truth of the events that had transpired.

Alright, going to sleep. If I messed up anything, please point it out. Thanks~
