I am made of fail. Posting now!

Jun 13, 2008 00:25

Okay, I'm still made of fail cuz I pulled this up about a half-hour ago and have only just come back to actually post.

FAIL.

But anyways... posting! Fic Duel challenge was "Wish/price/time", and of course the 750 min. word count for the month. Idea was inspired by a conversation between spazzyfroggies and I when I accidentally said that KH2 would make a great musical instead of saying that LK2 would. (Lion King 1 and 2 = <333333)

And with that, I give you broadway!KH.

Title: What We Wish For
Fandom: xxxHolic/KH crossover
Rating: G (is for Gyah)
Note: This was written at about 1 am and is a cracky idea to begin with, so no guarentees on quality. And it feels like forever since I've written about Riku and Sora...

Fulfilling your greatest wish may not be worth the price you have to pay. Are you sure that this is what you want?

He had hesitated for a brief moment, considering once more just how much he wanted to sing on stage, and suddenly, inexplicably, he felt compelled to leave, to turn around and walk out the door without answering the woman, to return home and continue pursuing his dream his own way - headstrong and steadfast, like he always did.

But he had nodded instead of shaking his head, and the woman had bowed her head - almost regretfully, he thought.

Then your wish shall be granted, she had told him, but be wary, for the price you pay is equal to the worth of the wish. Your relationships will change, and there will be nothing you can do to prevent that. Remember to trust and hope, rather than want and despair.

Sora shook his head at himself, banishing the memory of the strange shop he had come across - or maybe more like found himself at - when he had decided to wander the streets of New York City late at night one week before. Turning up his mp3 player, Sora continued on his way to a local theater - a place he would be performing in, and the first step of many that would lead him towards a role on the big stage - thing one thing that he had always wanted.

As he turned a corner, he plowed into another person coming the other way. As he fell backwards, sprawled on the concrete, he could feel where bruises would soon be forming - a common price for being distracted in a city like this. When he looked up through his brown spiky bangs, he found his gaze held by eyes that were the color of the sea just after the dawn.

The other person - male, Sora noted - automatically held out his hand to help Sora to his feet and added an apology, but Sora wasn’t injured or distracted with his own bruises enough to miss the widening of his new ‘friend’s’ eyes, and the small, startled gasp he gave. Sora tilted his head to the side slightly as he got a distinct impression of beach-sand-waves-wind, but brushed it off as a figment of his imagination.

“Sorry, my fault!” Sora proclaimed, smiling as he took the hand of the other teen, who immediately helped him to his feet.

“I’m sorry as well.” The other boy paused, obviously torn as to continue with the question he seemed to be considering asking or to forget it altogether and move on. “I… You…” He frowned, seeming to stare at Sora’s feet as he debated with himself mentally. Suddenly, he realized that he was still holding on to Sora’s hand and dropped it as if it burned him.

“Sorry. Never mind. Sorry about bumping into you.” And with that, he was gone, leaving Sora with only an impression of sunny skies, salty oceans, silver hair, and blue-green eyes.

“Now, would the next singers please take their places?”

Sora looked at the script in his hand and grinned. “What You Own” was a song he had grown up on. This should be a breeze. He thought, clearing his throat and waiting for the guitar and drums to kick in as a cue.

“Don’t breathe too deep! Don’t think all day! Dive into work! Drive the other way!” The intro continued until the other part came in. Sora took a breath for his next line, but nearly let it all out again when he saw who was singing with him (“The filmmaker cannot see!”) - and with such a beautiful voice too!

(“And the songwriter cannot hear!”) Who would have thought that the person he had run into - quite literally - would turn out to be here at the very same audition.

Suddenly the director called cut, a pleased expression on his face as he cut off the song only part-way through. “Next duo!”

Sora smiled, and turned to nod encouragingly at the other singer, but found himself looking at the silver-haired boy’s back as he stalked off to somewhere backstage.

What was his problem? Sora wondered, frowning at the retreating male.

***

When Sora next tried to talk to the boy - whose name was Riku, as he found out by asking around - he found himself with a bruised shoulder and a number of splinters in said shoulder from when the silver-haired teen threw him against a stage prop, muttering something about a ghost come back to life, never wanting to see or talk to him again, and a final statement about leaving, “and this time, for good.”

Now for the Ions! This week I did all of mine based off of another cracky idea. Because of cyanwitch, I went and read a lot of insaneidiot's X fic. Specifically "All That Glitters", which may be better known as "Boyband!X". Blame, cyanwitch, blame. But anyways... take "Boyband!X", add in Yellowcard, and duil_aiyule's suggestion that I do TRC fic, specifically KuroFai, and this is what is born. Boyband!TRC featuring Yellowcard lyrics... Alright, let's go! (HTML practice, whee.)

Title: Attention
Yellowcard Song: Lights and Sounds

The sound of a switch being flipped, and the lights were suddenly out, only to be replaced in a moment by black lights that threw everything into shades of purple, blue, and black. Silence fell over the crowd, followed by soft muttering that was soon muted as people noticed the sound of a guitar growing louder and louder. Suddenly three spotlights turned on, revealing the presence of three people on the stage just as the drums kicked in, the dark male joining the tall one in his riff.

The lead guitarist, a young boy, leaned into the mic, and the crowd exploded as he sang the opening lines to their song.

Hello, you, how was the rest?
You made it through, but nevertheless
I got you out on a wire.
You be love and I'll be a liar.

Dancing began on the floor in front of them, and the three glanced at each other, sharing a look that told of relief and joy. This was their first performance as the main act, and they were excited to see that their reputation had preceded them.

Stop, turn, take a look around
At all the lights and sounds.
Let 'em bring you in.
Slow burn, let it all fade out,
Pull the curtain down.
I wonder where you've been?

As the song wound to a close, Syaoran couldn’t help but smile a little - though he kept it out of his voice, smiling solely with his eyes. He caught sight of a girl standing near the back of the room, staring at him and smiling gently, and he felt like he should know her from somewhere.

You earned everything you found,
And painted faces frown.
I'll say I knew you when...

He could almost hear a woman laughing somewhere in the back of his head.

Title: Salvation
Yellowcard Song: City of Devils

Man once sang to me
Look at you saving the world on your own
And I wonder how things gonna be
Cos the time here it passes so slow

It had been five months and three days since he had last seen her. Ten months, two weeks, and a day since he had first seen her. Not that he was counting.

In a city of devils we live
A city of devils we live

Find somebody to learn
Boy you gotta love someone more than yourself
I can feel the fire of the city lights burn
And it's hard to find angels in hell

In the darkness of this world, Syaoran had found an angel in Sakura. She was so bright that she virtually shone. There was something about this light that drew Syaoran in - much like a moth to flame, but with less harm to possibly be done, and much more good.

Questions I can't seem to find
To the answers I already have
And you can't see the sky here at night
So I guess I can't make my way back

In a last minute decision, he, Kurogane, and Fai had decided to do a tour. They contacted a number of clubs and performance areas, and were soon on the road. The decision had been one of the best that they had ever made for the band, as their audiences went from a few tens to nearly a hundred in only a week.

And that’s when they were contacted by a talent scout, who offered them a contract with his production company. They had held off with answering immediately, and had returned home to recuperate and debate on the matter. But when Syaoran had tried to contact Sakura, he found that she had virtually disappeared off the face of the planet.

What if I wanted you here right now
Would you fall in the fire burn me down
If I wanted you here right now
Would you fall in the fire burn me down
If I wanted you here right now...

Maybe, just maybe, he thought She’ll notice me this way. Maybe she’ll find me. I hope she finds me. I want to find her, but I have nothing to go on. Nothing at all. Syaoran was nearing the edge of despair, feeling his salvation slipping out of his grasp.

I don't belong
Don't belong
I've been here too long
Too long

The next day, they called Geo back to let him know that they would be willing to negotiate a contract with Infinity Records.

Title:Confession
Song: Grey

Fai was glad that they had a very loose compositional agreement. The trio worked well as a group, each writing their own parts, but always under the direction of one member whose song it “belonged” to.

As Syaoran spun out the introductory guitar solo, Fai stepped up to the mic, taking his place as the lead singer for this song - his song of confession, written to- well, he’d let the person figure it out.

I've found telling you the truth
The hardest thing to get out
I know it wasn't you
That made me feel this way
Will it ever change,
Or are we stuck here on our own?

His eyes flicked back to the other members of the band as he continued to sing, following the bass line with gentle but confident strums on his guitar. He studied each of the other two, internally smiling as Syaoran obviously scanned the crowd for the girl that he had first met nearly a year ago, and trying to keep from showing any kind of reaction to Kurogane’s questioning frown.

I know every last regret
Inside of me is my own
The way I hold them close
Has made me be this way
I will never change
I know I'm stuck here on my own
My own

He continued to sing to the substantial crowd that they had gathered for the spur-of-the-moment performance - fortunately their favorite kind, as their owner, a Japanese woman who they rarely saw, often caused such productions (for she didn’t ask, she merely made it happen).

I gave you things I had
That I could not give back again
But I'm better off alone
It's all gone grey
It's all gone grey
It's all gone grey
It's all gone grey

When the performance came to an end, and the tired stars retired to their rooms, Kurogane followed Fai into his room, and the darker male was next spotted leaving the room at four a.m. Questions would follow, but both would only say that they had spent most of the night talking about things, and that nothing had happened between them.

Syaoran was well aware that there was a “yet” hanging over that statement.

Title: Incompletion
Song: The Takedown

Kurogane smirked as he watched the audience. All their eyes were trained on Syaoran, but Kurogane noticed a few looking about confused.

That’s right, kiddos, he thought, he’s not singing this one. This is my song.

And this was Kurogane’s song because Kurogane wasn’t stupid. Kurogane knew full well that there was something up with the blonde bassist, and he knew that he was going to get to the bottom of it.

Don't turn your back on me now
You can't do this
So don't say you can live without
You can't do this alone
How did I end up like this the lonely one
Your greatest takedown
You take me down

Kurogane poured hidden emotion into the song as the chorus struck, trying to get that person to understand that he had understood the other song, and that he had a reply. So if he had to use music to confess his love on stage, if it would help fix Fai’s problem about crushing on him, he would consider it no problem at all.

Left last night with a long goodbye
With some red wine through a phone line
Told you thoughts that multiply
That I don't know how to let go
We've been here many times before
I am empty when you leave me
What's one more

Kurogane was amused by the rumors that had flow after that night. Sure, most people suspected that something like that actually went on rather normally, but Kurogane just shook his head and thought - but never EVER said aloud - that he might wish that it did go on rather normally.

Don't turn your back on me now
You can't do this
So don't say you can live without
You can't do this alone
How did I end up like this the chosen one
Your greatest takedown
You take me down

As the song drew to a close, Fai moved closer to Kurogane on the stage, glancing often to look at the dark haired drummer. When the song ended, Kurogane leaned over to pull Fai closer to him and lay a solid kiss on the bassists lips. The drummer caught Syaoran blushing a little out of the corner of his eye, as well as his publicity advisor - Kunogi Himawari - and the band’s owner - one Ichihara Yuuko - giggling madly just offstage.

When Fai returned the kiss on stage in front of hundreds of people and on television for many more, Kurogane thought to himself, Is this what it feels like to be complete?

Title: Resolution
Song: Fighting

Said I'd move on and I'd leave it alone
But before I walk out there is something that I need you to know
I got lost in the blink of an eye
And I could never get back, no I never got back

For the first time in a long time, their words differed greatly from their emotions at that moment. They were on their way home for the first time in a year, celebrating the event with random performances in any place that had space open on a night when they were around.

It was random, but it was the most fun they had had in ages.

You were not there when I wanted to say
That you were everything right
And it wasn't you but me that changed
Now I gotta go it alone
But I will never give up, no I'll never give up.

There was no room to smile, but Syaoran knew that he didn’t have to show it on his face for her to understand. Green eyes met amber across a room full of dancing people, and Syaoran felt the pieces fall into place.

His light had returned.

What am I fighting for?
There must be something more
For all these words I sing
Do you feel anything?

She was away in London, she had told him through an e-mail shortly after the band’s publicity had skyrocketed. She had obviously been keeping track of them, and she told him that she would love to see him perform again as soon as she was back in the country.

Syaoran had turned as red as a fire truck when Yuuko told him that she had replied for him already, and that he had better be ready for a date when the “lovely young lady” returned from her trip.

Said that I'd fight for the one that I found
I'm gonna stay here while I wait for you to come around
I'll fight, you're a part of me now
And I will never give up, no I'll never give up

He had removed his attention from her for only a moment, and had only barely managed to keep himself from paniking and jumping off stage to go look for Sakura, but before he could change his mind about not doing those things, she was suddenly next to him, dancing along with the music and even singing quietly - and quite beautifully - along.

As the song ended, she leaned over to kiss him on the cheek, and they all knew that this was the perfect resolution to a great adventure.

Done! Will post another DaKe 101 kiss (another mandatory thing (dake) for each week now, seeing as I suggested it as a way to get the kisses done sooner) tomorrow, as well as cyanwitch's stuff. Sorry about that. I am a lazy bum in the evenings when I have to get up crazy early, apparently. x_x
