Honor Upheld

Hello again my dear readers. I apologize for the hiatus. Let me sum up what happened over the past few days.

Well, this past Thursday the fencers went out to Baker's Square to have pie instead of fencing due to the Assembly of God set up that the had going on at the ARC. How selfish of them to deny us fencing *smiles and waits for divine retribution*. Meh, screw it, pie was good fun. I wasn't much fun to be around as far as conversation or whatnot for the greater part of the time I was trying to grade a paper. I tried the multi-tasking bit with the whole grade the paper, spark up conversation, then try to eat. Oh yes, that worked out wonderful *nods knowingly*. I ended up just putting the paper aside and focused on the eating and the talking; THAT I know I can do at the same time, within the boundaries of proper table manners of course. Speaking of proper table manners and whatnot, apparently the way I eat was of some entertainment to Melinda and Freida. As Melinda put it, in jest of course, "Remind me to sit on the other end of the table from Al Jay the next time we eat so I don't feel so savage." *grins* Savage is good, I like wild . . . to an extent *laughs*. Well, next time I'll just have to remind myself to be uncouth, though at Woodstocks last night I was dropping salad parts everywhere . . . they need to get bigger bowls/plates for the salad.

This past Friday I went out and bought a fish tank and like a heater and the bubble thingy and the thermometer and stuff. *grins* Then I populated it with fishies!!! I started off with a plant, some snails, some ghost shrimp and a few of these fast, little fish that look like tiny minnows with color. *grins evilly* They were all prep and bait for what I bought yesterday. I went to the fishstore and bought up a pair of figure-eight pufferfish; yeah, I ended up going for the larger pufferfish instead of the smaller ones. OOO, I love watching those guys eat! Rock says I need help, but I think it's just so BADASS when you see two pufferfish circle a ghost shrimp, who is obviously trying to look for a way out, then converge to tear it to pieces *throws his head back and laughs with maniacal glee*!!! On a lighter note, I'm training my new babies to respond to the sound of my conch-shell horn the same way Pavlov's dogs did when it was feeding time. Mmmm, the fishy goes CHOMP, CHOMP, CHOMP!!! I have yet to think of names for my two fishies. I was considering calling them Castor and Pollux, but one is clearly more dominant than the other. I also considered naming them Citius and Fortius because while the one is stronger, the other is much faster by far . . . and rightly so, otherwise he'd be missing a large part of his tailfins. Other names I considered were Hindenberg and Goodyear due to their shapes (I'm a bit partial to those), think swimming blimps. The verdict is still out on the names of the fishies. What do I call the shrimp, snails, and the other four fish? *smirks* I call the shrimps "snack 1, snack 2, snack . . .," the snails "appetizer 1, appetizer 2 . . ." and the fish are just . . . "fish." The puffers can't seem to catch and eat those guys *shrugs*.

Tuesday at work was a fun-filled day of teach-for-two-seconds-before-making-sure-the-kids-aren't-dead. Jon didn't show up to work, and he didn't call in beforehand so I had to deal with all of the kiddos by myself. That wasn't bad at all for the older group, but the younger kids' slashing made Hollywood look like Hollywood. *sighs* Oh well *sings* "Mah mamma said dey'll be days like dis dey'll be days like dis dey'll be daysssss . . ."

All in all I'd say that practice went pretty well. I'm supposed to hold a noob practice session in the very near future *notes time of journal entry*. I'll have to get Melinda to 1, stop squealing with each hit, and 2, stop doing the Twinklebert *grins at those who know what the Twinklebert looks like*. The novices seem to be progressing nicely, but I worry about the time they'll have to fence before the tournament next Saturday. I'm not too worried about equipment considering Catherine put out an order for stuff today, and we should be getting it this weekend. We shall see . . . we shall indeed, see . . .

On a lighter, slightly more chivalrous, note I defended the honor of a young lady last night *raises his blade in salute to Sharon and dips into a low and gracious bow*. Apparently the Fez wanted to call her "Nectarine" (hahahah, hmmm, reminds me of TC's Hawaiian Shirt party . . . what o' what was the Fez eating? *laughs* And very slowly I might add) after I had already named her "Peach" for the way she bruises easily. This escalated into Fez challenging me to fence over what her nickname should be. So, I donned the mantle of "Sharon's Champion" (in shining, white fencing armor *beams proudly*) to defend her "good name" as it happened to be. She got a kick out of watching us go head-to-head, and I quote, "I've never had two guys literally fight over me." With a slow attack I finished my final attack and laid waste to he would call her "Nectarine." . . . And the seraphim did sing their songs of joy for the galant champion.

So ends the adventure of Al Jay thus far . . .
