bugs and drums

I've heard before that the first year a kid's in school (or in Nola's case, Montessori), that parents tend to get the "opportunity" to build up an immunities to all the things they bring home from school. I'm now on my third head cold in as many months - so at this rate, I'll have an immune system of solid adamantium by this time next year.

On the other hand, though, being home from work with Nola home from school means that, since she likes playing with toy drumsticks, and I have a guitar in the house, we've now had the first ever father-daughter jam sessions - with me on a Gretsch and her on cardboard boxes. There was even some tempo matching between her enthusiastic punk stylings and my rockabilly riffs. So far this year is awesome for that alone.
