Today Nick and myself, along with my friend Lennon and her boyfriend Tim and my friend Andrew...... went to Purcell's Pond just outside of Halifax.
What it basically is is a random Lake off a high way (there are many out here). You pull over at a pathway and park (on a gravel little mini parking lot which holds maybe 4 cars) and then hike down a dirt path through the woods for about 15 minutes until you come to a clearing with lots of boulders which surround a huge lake you can swim in.
Lennon and I went yesterday too, but only briefly.
Tim and Nick today decided to try something different and stray from the path... to which the rest of us followed. This resulted in us getting lost.... and stuck in muddy twiggy overgrowth with moss and pine trees which held only one passable through which was by holding out your arms and pushing all of the lovely "nature" out of your way. By the time we finally found the path again (ironically at the exact point we differed from it) we were all so scraped up and bruised and sweaty that we looked like we just escaped from some sort of woodland prison. Nicks shirt was torn.... my shoes were FILLED with dirt and twigs.. as well as my purse.
Anyway we finally did get to the pond and swam and enjoyed ourselves. We saw some nudists having a pretty good time and we sat on a rock for a few hours and just sun bathed and chatted with some hippies who had joined us..... we met lots of dogs who were off their leases... only to moments later meet their owners...
Anyway.... I would say over all I have at least 100 abrasions. Most of which are over an inch long.... One starts at the midpoint of my thigh and goes all the way over my knee and half way down my calf.
I would do it again though. Maybe without the excursion.
