my life consists of revision and roller derby and both of these things are well and good.
finals are in 4 and a half weeks. i've been doing questions and there was a mock OSCE (practical exam consisting of 8minute stations where you are tested on various junior-doctor-type tasks) and there were no surprises.. obviously I still have tons to learn and polish but there's time left for it and at this point I have a fairly clear idea of what my strengths and weaknesses are so it is targeted revision. so yes. i will be a complete stresshead as they get closer but it should all be okay.
roller derby is AMAZING. i went to my first bout yesterday and screamed myself hoarse. i think i may finally understand the footy lads. except of course roller derby is wayyyyyyyy better than football. i joined the "ragdoll academy" (leeds roller dolls' newbie training programme) 8 or 9 weeks ago and have been to all the newbie practices. i went to everyone-practice (ie. mixed in with the 'big girls') today and we got three full hours on skates which was great but god i'm tired. i'm really proud of myself though. by the end of the first hour i was exhausted and achey and frankly wanted to sit down, rub my feet and go to sleep. but i kept skating through whip and pack drills. for another hour, and a bit more. and then.. we had scrimmage! (like a practice game) non-contact for us n00bs who haven't passed minimum skills yet and for most of us ragdolls it was our first scrimmage so our first chance to reallu have a go at playing this crazy game we've signed up for. it really was crazy and sooooo difficult, i can't imagine doing that with hits thrown in. i had one go at jamming (the jammer is the point-scorer of the team, she has to skate really really fast and all the other team are trying to get in her way) and by the end of the 2minute jam i wanted to throw up. i don't think i've ever done anything so physically strenuous in my life. it was great. bring on tuesday :D
