A gentle reminder. Go see
Emergency Contraception!: The Musical because it will rock your socks off.
But don't take
my word for it. Here's what the critics have been saying:
"Moves from witty to wicked to wise, without missing a beat."
- Lee-Anne Nawsay (Villager's Voice)
"Standout performances, and a bold score you'll be humming for days.... Well worth it!"
- Neal W. Seeyanan (New York Daily Post)
"A breath of fresh air in a stultifying season filled with big-budget adaptations of popular movies. Emergency Contraception!: The Musical is authentic and honest."
- Wesley A. Nanane (New York Times-Picayune)
"¡Magnífico!"
- Ana Ynés Waleen (New York Ahora)
"[Sara] Cooper has a light touch, writing her characters with compassion and wit.... She is truly a playwright to watch."
- Sean Wayne Lane (Time Out New Yorker)
In other news, I have just finished reading Candy Girl, the memoir by the screenwriter of
Juno - man, you can totally tell that they were written by the same person. Diablo Cody has quite the singular voice. (Also, fun to read on the train: when she describes her shoes as "clit-pink" I start to wonder if anyone is reading over my shoulder.)
In other other news, I suppose that now I must apologize to everyone for scorning Friday Night Lights. HELLO, that show is AWESOME! Writing, acting, that beautiful handheld doc-style cinematography... I was so derisive of the show, without having seen it, and now I admit that I was wrong. [pours barbecue sauce on words and takes large bite]
Aaaaaand I guess that's it, folks. Not much to report.
