just one more day closer to...
Four days of no work! I'm really looking forward to the break. That and x-mas season being over. It has really had me down the past few days. Glad I have therapy on Saturday.
We had a staff/holiday gathering of our small group today. I gave everyone their holiday present and brought in the home made cookies. I didn't think they went over that well as they were competing with Cinnabuns. :D But I did get some compliments on how good they were. :) That made me feel good. I use to make them to bring in for me and "D's" jobs. People use to love my sugar cookies. I don't know that I will do it again next year. I'm still hurting from icing them for an hour and half last night.
I was trolling the Midnight weekly email and saw a listing that De/Vision is playing Shampoo in Philly on Feb. 6th. I got online today and bought my ticket. I really like De/Vision and I'm looking at going as my Christmas/1st year anniversary of the divorce being final/birthday present to myself. :P I figured the $10 bucks to go wasn't bad; plus the service fees of course. *blah* I know it is a bit early but if anyone else is considering going and would like to car pool that would be great. I've been to Philly before but never by myself. I've only been to Shampoo once and that was with Scott ... jesus... two years ago? I'm thinking I will work a half day before and after. Just leave work early that afternoon and then come in late the next day. I'm not driving to Philly for a show and having to be at work at 9 a.m. Fuck that. So yeah... I'm looking for road trip company. :)
Found out that they are NOT giving out a Christmas bonus this year nor are they doing the steak/food stuff thing they have done before. Seems that a) the move here was very expensive, b) another contract had the gall to say to our President that they rather have the money than get the food stuff thing they send out every year, and c) we are only making a 1% profit right now. :( It sucks b/c I really was looking forward to that money. I could seriously have used it to put into savings. But it is what it is. They did give us the employee appreciation bonus thing. There is some talk that maybe they might do a mid-year bonus but I'm not holding my breath on that one. Kind of sucks. But again, it is what it is. I really got spoiled my first year here. Now that we have grown so much, things and the norms are changing. Just have to accept that what use to be the norm isn't necessarily going to be the case anymore. However, I did hear that our president and vice president were giving everyone $100 Visa gift cards. So you might as well say they are giving us the money they would have spent on food stuffs and in that respect... getting a $100 Visa gift card is still a bonus.
I'm already in the "on break" mentality. I really rather be doing anything except be here. Tomorrow should be a real slack day. We have our monthly employee lunch (which I hear is Popeye's... eh) and secret satan. I hope I get something remotely nice/usable. I'm kind of nervous b/c I have the vice president this year. I think I got a good gift for his interests but you know... :P
Since I have off the next four days... I may a) try to get out to ES this Saturday, and b) go see some movies. If anyone is interested in getting together, just drop me an email or give me a call. I'm thinking Sweeny Todd or National Treasure (II).
The best thing about tonight is that when I go home I don't have to cook dinner (have leftovers) and all I "need" to do is take a shower.
