there is this spot inbetween my right shoulder and the curve of my neck that starts to tighten when my stress levels start to rise. This time, it is worse, because not only is that spot starting to tense up, but my stomach is starting to tighten with it. I can't decide if the latter is due to the cup of coffee i drank for lunch. However, nothing changes the fact that the more experience I acquire is the only way that I will be able to help those without power, without water, without ice, and without the knowledge that their loved ones are out of harms way.
Everyone keeps telling me that Charley has hit Florida harder than Hurricane Andrew, but no matter how drastic the damage, it doesn't change the fact that I am not confident in navigating these computer programs to solve their immediate needs and concerns. I wonder if all volunteers start out feeling like this. I think tomorrow will be better, and I thikn that I will be a bit smarter (With a days experience) and with a second brain by my side (another disaster relief team member).
