Last Day Off Adventures...... :)

A fun picture post to celebrate my last day off before rejoining the working world!
1st.... my new apartment... it's the building on the right... 27th floor! :) Thanks to nifties and Dylan for their help getting it!!

I love cooking in my new kitchen, even though it is tiny. Granite counters! Glass cook top!

Here are some lovely salad ingredients I picked up.... The basil is local (grown in Surrey I think?) and smells soooo delicious... you can smell it right through the plastic bag. The salad is gonna be mixed (mostly) local veggies, feta cheeze, mandarin orange slices and home made dressing adapted from Jamie Oliver's chopped salad recipe. Making your own dressing is easy, and tasty, and healthy.... because you can control the amount and type of oil (yay omegas!), vinegar (apple cider + red wine are my choices), seasoning, and leave out additives and sugar.

Basically for the dressing, I use Jamie's recipe as a guideline.. but mine I use a couple types of olive oil, substitute grainy French mustard for the English, red wine and apple cider vinegars, italian seasoning, lemon pepper and himalayan crystal salt for the salt n pepper, and use less oil. Basically for basic dressing to be yummy it should have some oil, some sour ingredient (vinegar or lemon or lime juice) and some seasonings. TMI about salad dressing? hehe.

Now... Bacon times!!! This is my favorite way to make bacon. It's even better if you put freshly ground sea salt, pepper and maple syrup on it before baking it! As I found out, not recommended to do in a brand new tiny apartment, because the smoke alarm will keep going off for no reason!
EZ way to make bacon in the oven

Seriously some of the greatest bacon evar!

Foil folded into waves to encourage wiggly and crispy bacons. I put more foil underneath too so the pan wouldn't get messy.

Bacons enjoying some time in the sauna.

mmmmm bacons!

Finally.... my hair! I noticed that since the red washed out of my hair, it's looked kinda gloomy and mousy. So I wanted to give it a little bit of shine.... problem being that the original haircolor was skillfully done by my Mitchell at Headlines. I couldn't find any highlighting kits in red, and it's really hard to do foils on yourself. I didn't just want to make my head completely red, I wanted to maintain the blonde highlights, black lowlights, and natural color underneath, just perked up a little!

I look a little apprehensive here. I used my fingers and a really small comb to put the red on only the areas I wanted...

Messy and unstraightened... but you can see that when I rinsed and dried the blonde bits are still there. Yay! :)

And the front is a dark shiny red, with black lowlights.

Overall I think it looks pretty cute, and $7.00 + 30 minutes is a good price for a poor girl like me to look a bit more stylin :) :) Thanks iphone for the upside down pic :D

Now I gotta use the rest of the day productively and finish unpacking and cleaning and making lists.

xoxo =)
