Well, this has certainly been an interesting GA, far less upsetting to me than the last three. I am finally reaching the place of love and forgiveness from which I can speak without animosity to the way that Bisexual Erasure, for instance, still operates in the UUA at the highest levels.
It helps that this year Interweave Continental is publishing a curriculum on Bisexuality. The denomination's existing educational materials on queer issues don't deal very evenly with Bisexual or Transgender issues. Both the Welcoming Congregation curriculum and the more recent Living the Welcoming Congregation curriculum are 10-14 sessions. Each has one session devoted to everything under the umbrella of Transgender. The Welcoming Congregation (second edition) has one half of a session on Bisexuality and Living the Welcoming Congregation has one session. So, this is sorely needed to fill a major gap in our denomination's Lifespan Faith Development programs.
It also helps that this year we (the Board of Interweave) have put more attention on Transgender issues. It helps me remember that Trans folks have even less understanding and support in the UUA.
I'll put more in other posts.
