Today has been a day of finding out about the piles and piles of work I have to do this term. At least I more or less sorted out what topics I am going to do said work on.
I had my first English session of the term, since I missed it last week. The lecture was bullcrap. Sitting through an hour's lecture on research skills, which I already knew about, was boring as hell. Luckily there's only 2 lectures left, whoo! Though the seminars go from 2 hours long to 3 hours long after that >.< But we only actually have 4 more weeks of seminars and then it's individual tutorial stuff, lol. This is all cos we're doing a 3,000 word research project, which also involves 1,500 words for an initial outline of said project, and then 1,500 words on a reflective account of said research project. So 6,000 words in total. Then we also have to do a presentation and write a 750 word critique on it (much the same as last year). My presentation is on Class but not untl February 12th, thank god! I'm also basing my research project on Class, using Elizabeth Gaskell's 'North and South'.
Then later on in the day I went to see my History tutor about my essay from last term and also to discuss this term's essay; another research project. He couldn't fault my essay too much and said my mark was above the average class level, whoo! But he said I needed to aim to get all my work from now on in the 2-1 bracket, since I admitted to usually getting marks in the upper 50s. When I told him about what I'd decided on doing for my research project in English, he suggested that maybe I could do a biographical type project on Elizabeth Gaskell for my History piece, cos then it'd all tie in nicely. So I'm seriously considering that now, since I have no idea what I would do otherwise. The History one is a straight 6,000 word project, so it's like a shorter dissertation, scary!
Anyways, when I left there, I went to Blackwells and bought a copy of 'North and South'. Then I headed to my first anime soc meeting in a while. I provided plenty of manga and sweets and also premiered my 'I Luv Yaoi' t-shirt XD We had tons of new members and it was a really funny session, though I didn't actually read any manga, again, lol.
Tomorrow is the first Kickboxing session of the term. I am a little fearful at how hard they'll work us. They'll use the excuse that we all need to lose our Christmas bellies, or something *wibbles* So expect an update tomorrow night, if I'm still moving by then XD
