Bulgaria

Okay, here is my Bulgaria entry. It's not going to be my usual day by day format as a) I can't be arsed and b) most days were fairly similar. So it'll be a sort of overview I guess *is basically gonna make it up as she goes along* but I shall add in some photos cos illustrations help, heheh.

Adrian, Mum, Sj, Henry and I went to Bulgaria for a week between the 10th and 18th July. The plane journey was cramped, they showed Ice Age 2 but I didn't watch it cos I couldn't be arsed. The plane journey took 3 hours and the coach transfer took 40 mins. We stayed in a resort called Albena, which is on the coast of the Black Sea. Our hotel was called the Gergana and was situated right on the beach with a biggish swimming pool. We were on the bed and breakfast deal so we got a continental buffet breakfast each morning, where I had scrambled eggs on toast followed by pancakes most days, heh.

Here's a photo of the view from our balcony:

Most days went the same as I've already said. We would go down for breakfast, grab some sunbeds near the pool and base ourselves round the pool. Much sunbathing, swimming and reading of books was done. There was also the Animation team, who were very keen to get us to join in the activities they put on. My eventual favourites were darts, french boules, volleyball, the cocktail game, and waterpolo. It took me a couple of days to actually make myself join in though, haha. There were also a couple of days where we did some wave jumping/diving in the sea which was hellava fun.

Mum took a lot of photos of us playing volleyball, waterpolo and in the sea during the last day, so here's a few:

Volleyball on Sunday afternoon, Sj and I were awesome of course XD:

It wasn't just the volleyball entertaining us...the two Animation guys were acting incredibly 'close' throughout (ahem, one of them is so staring at the other guy's arse >.>):

The Hale clan in the water, taking the world on at waterpolo XD:

Me in the sea (along with Adrian, Henry and his friend, Ben):

The evenings were spent going out, finding somewhere to eat and erm...eating dinner, heheh. We ate in a different restaurant each night. They all had similar things on the menu (except the Chinese XD) but they all provided different entertainment. I found I really enjoyed the Bulgarian folk music and the dancing. We had one mishap with the food in that Sj got food poisoning from calamari but other than that it wasn't as bad as it could have been. On that same night we all (bar Sj) went and played mini golf, which was incredibly hilarious. I, not suprisingly, came last. Golf isn't exactly my sport in the least, haha. We also went on the little train that goes around the resort. Oh yes and we did try out the Irish pub there (cos everywhere has an Irish pub) and I had a chocolate cocktail! Just like the ones in York, Katie ;)

One of the days we got a bus (which was like a large camper van/small minibus type thing) to the next resort along, Balchik. It was quite obviously still up and coming but there were some nice views there and we had lunch in a restaurant that overlooked the harbour, which was really nice.

Hanging out in the restaurant in Balchik:

The flight home was late on Monday night (23:50, to be exact). So since Bulgaria is two hours ahead we got into Gatwick at 1am. The film on the flight back was Firewall and I actually watched it, though I missed chunks of it due to being dead tired. I slept for most of the car journey home and we stopped in Tesco in Norwich to get milk and crumpets XD The staff found it odd that a family was in Tesco at 4:30am, haha.

Overall, it was a good holiday, where some of the things will stick in my memory and others won't. One of the highlights was the Bulgarian music and dancing. I really did take to it, hehe. I do know that for the next big holiday I wanna go skiing cos I've had enough of getting sunburn. It hurts! Damnit!

Heads up for the next entry, I've finally started watching Gokusen series 1, so um...expect squeeing next time? ^^;

Ja ne! ^__^
