Four months it too long to leave it to one post.

We left the UK and 1030 local time, saturday 17th February, the plane journey was amplified in awe by enabling me to play tetris for a good 6 hours, Rosie and i got lost in Dubai airport and utilised the tree and a half hours we had before our next plane took of looking for the departure gate, win. we landed in Sri Lanka at 530am local tim, which is 5.5 hours ahead of teh uk, we remained in Columbo airport until 1130am waiting for our bags which the lovely gatwick baggage staff forgot to put on our plane. we were then driven across the world to a hotel and met some other voluntary kiddies, who were all supprisingly old. there were varying forms of orientation meetings until we left with a man called Dudly to go to his house, where our placement would be.

We met the other kiddies who were working a Dudlys, which is a community centre, after school school and turtle sanctuary on a beach maybe 1.5 hours south of the Capital. We were thrown straight into teaching small and not so small children that afternoon, or at least we watched the current people so we knew what we were supposed to be doing. Surrogate parent Kate and Ron have been here for three weeks and have enforced some testing and grading system, its cuntish but whatever, speaking to the kids teaches them what they need to know. There is a small girl in my class whos baby sister died on her birthday, in the Tsunami, the beach and village has recovered but its a lucky place, mainly because of the fishermen and Dudlys work, places we drive by to get anywhere are very different, there are half built half crumbling shacks everywhere.

Days at work are comprised thus:
we get up at 615 and walk to Dudlys for breakfast, monday-wednesday we smash concrete like motherbitched between 730 and 1030, soon enough were gonna start making a house there. Thursday morning we clean out the Turtle tanks on the beach and Friday morning we feed the turtles or plant trees or go away for the weekend early. every afternoon we teach english to the village kiddies for an hour and a bit, and play. between 1030 and 2 were free, we have the oppertunity to go to the next town with shops and interenet etc etc, mainly we just sit.

This weekend were in one of the few tourist beaches called Hikkadowa, we can wear what we like and there are a couple of clubs that play awesome native drum dance versions of Pink Floyd and The Mammas and Pappas. Friday night we seemed to get hidiously drunk and stoned and committed ourselves to some form of typical british behaviour, some form of coping mechanism i expect. I still managed to wake up at 830am.

soon were going to the mountains. Malaria tablets are giving me halucinations and horifically vivid dreams, i feel as though i am on an extended trip.

i miss a perculiar selection of people, and im worried about trown for reasons i dont understand. the camera is best friend, and i cant remember what colour clean feet are.

theres an infinity of things i could describe, culture can come in its own post.
