Unlike some library workers who caught awful colds and so missed the chance to promote Banned Books Week here (ahem!), I will be more on top of things in promoting the upcoming Teen Read Week
http://www.ala.org/teenread!
I invite everyone to find out more about the group that created and sponsors the event, ALA's Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA, a division of ALA
http://www.ala.org/yalsa). YALSA is led by director
Beth Yoke, who has been very active in getting library workers and patrons alike to better understand the goings-on in teen culture, from
graphic novels to
MySpace.
Read the YALSA blog and add your own information to the new
TAGS (Teen Advisory Group Site) national database! Consider
joining ALA in order to
become a member of YALSA and be even more instrumental in
the development of library services to teens.
While formulating ways to
celebrate Teen Read Week, find out more about the upcoming first annual celebration of
Teen Tech Week, March 4-10, 2007!
