Whether it's "in addition to" or "instead of" the sort of entry you'd post in your lj, try posting one happy memory (without also putting in the doom and gloom "balance") and come up with one productive thing you have done in the past 24 hours. It doesn't have to be something huge -- if getting up and washing your face and brushing your teeth constitutes a big accomplishment, because you've been in a depressive funk for days, then that counts!
The point is to aim for positive actions. Spread the word.
The Happy Memory
A good few years ago, I was at a shooting event with Nic, and we went out for dinner with good friends, to an Indian Restaurant. It was full, and so the service was sloooooooow. As time went on, and the chat got louder and sillier, and there was more laughter, Chris (one of the friends) asked in all seriousness "Was that a really unmemorable meal, or what?" It took us all a few minutes to realise we hadn't actually eaten, by then. From that moment, the laughter got out of control, and when, at the end of the meal, the waiter put four empty cups in front of us and said "Four plain coffees" he was the bemused witness to Sara and I literally doubled up, and wheezing with laugter, as he went off to get the coffee pot.
The achievement
Done all my marking for the Communication in Science Paper, a whole week early. Yay! Can go to Brisbane without worrying.
