Disutilities

All fun and games at the flat... for sufficiently ironic values of "fun". In the middle of last Wednesday night, the main fuse blew; apparently a fault with the fuse itself. Thing was so hot that I burnt my finger on it trying to find the circuit-breaker switch that I assumed had tripped, and it seems to have damaged the ceramic holder. Didn't get much sleep that night, and was pretty shattered the next day; fortunately the landlord came 'round pretty sharpish, and made a pro temps fix. Then off to K2; was a lot of fun, but somewhat hampered by my throat deteriorating rapidly on me: developed a "dry" cough, and by Saturday morning my voice was totally gone. Will war-story somewhat in a later post. Thanks to hrafn, omentide, amcathra  and Seamus for putting up with me croaking and whispering all weekend, as well as to the first two for the lifts (including the run to Tesco when my need for Strepsils was at its most urgent).

Fuse was replaced permanently by the time I'd got back, Then tonight, the washing machine started leaking -- if not to say gushing -- copious quantities of water all over the kitchen floor. Once again the landlord was around rather speedily, all credit to him, and tinkered around with it sufficiently to get it to drain of water and liberate the current load of clothes. Says he'll be back tomorrow, with executive decision as to whether to repair or replace.

k2, flat chaos
