Muddled mollusc

Stemming almost entirely out of my half-muddled, half-inattentive switching of squids and lobsters in our Wednesday-night RPG, I was looking up some "invertebrate" taxonomy recently (and then re-inflicting it back on poor mylescorcoran ). I'm still not entirely sure if their crown group is the Articulata or Protostomia -- sounds like the taxonomists have a few CV bullet-points yet to grind out in this area. But apparently there are octopuses under the possible delusion that they're some sort of bivalve:

Apparently they make a point of finding ones that are slightly different sizes, so as to get that "stackable container" effect, thus helping with both articulation and transportation.

At least it's (and I am) fairly sure it's some member of Mullosca. Or another.

octopuses, taxonomy, octopi, coconuts, octopodes
