Clash of the ash, sog of the bog

Good gracious, but the mist was heavy tonight. Or was it very wet fog? Or extremely low cloud? At any rate, another soft and heavy afternoon and evening in Caaaaark.  Another nice enough day to start with, though the sun was much more in and out than the last few days.  By the time I'd moved my lazy ass it was around 10C out.  Never got below 6C, that I detected, but I can't say it felt like that;  I suppose if you factor in "wet bulb temp" or "heat index" that'd account for it:  the mist was latterly very dank.  Had thought about going out the Lee Valley Road, but decided I'd left that a tad late, especially considering the traffic for going across town at that hour.  So, more Route One stuff.  Some of the "filtered light" effects were quite interesting, but in need of fancier photographic equipment, I fear.

Of course, I felt obliged to push past Aherla this time at least one "turn", to satisfy the Pedalling Exclusion Principle with the previous one out that road.  Was originally going to indeed turn off at Coolmucky, but spotted the floodlights of the Cloughduv GAAers, and couldn't resist continuing on to there.  Really must actually ask one of the locals which side I should be cheering for, one of these times.  Or even, who's playing in which colour.  On to the village, then right turn to the main road.  Very limited visibility indeed with the mist closing in, but couldn't be bothered to stop to fiddle around fitting a beam headlight.  Didn't linger at the N22 junction (beyond stopping to button up my shirt), pressing on to Aherla, where I had a swig of drink and donned my fleece.  (I'd started with an extra layer in the form of a light sweatshirt under said outer shirt, though.)  Thought about diverting via Ballincollig to go to Lidl and Aldi, but decided just to press on.  Did go into Dunnes...  something of a reduced-veg bonanza, and some very cheap ham, too.  No luck with ISB bargains in Tesco, so will have to run a bread errand tomorrow.  47.5km, and a slightly less sedate "rolling average" of 17.5kph, at least compared to the bumpier trip before.
