Mood: urgh
But sort of in a good way? I made money -- enough to cover the groceries and house goods I needed to pick up so while the money went right out, it covered what I needed it to.
Been very busy. Friday started at 6 a.m because I had to be up early enough to do my part of cleaning and cleaning my room and changing my bed sheets -- because I knew what my weekend was going to look like. (So it was 6:15 and it was like I hit the go button; no stopping.) Then I ended up spending an extra hour with my morning client, helping her get on her computer and online. It isn't something I always do because I do not get paid for it and I need to draw a line, but there were a few websites she wanted to check out that I was excited to show her so it was alright there. It did however mean I was eating as I was driving to afternoon client >.< And afternoon client -- this was my last day with her so it was a bit bittersweet, but I... Damn do I feel bad but I have enough going on without working with someone who's memory is going. And the last day was...interesting. We'll go with interesting. I did an odds-and-ends run for her and went back to her place in time for her to let me know that her doctor finally got her an appointment in 15 MINUTES. Mad dash out the door.
So Friday was meh.
And I got a last minute pet sitting which is good because I need the money now. But it filled up an already busy Saturday. Pet sitting to home for breakfast to a few errands before seeing grandma for the usual stop to help out (laundry, cleaning; I did not do as a good a job as my aunt who is their usual cleaner. Sibling and I fill in and help out where needed around my aunt, but with the snow, she couldn't make it). Of course with it snowing, grandma was not expecting me so we kind of startled them. Whoops. I did feel good about helping them out because you know this way they didn't have to do all the furniture moving and stuffs. (Floor cleaning means vaccuuming and mopping and steaming floors and rugs and some of the chairs and stuff have to be moved. Fun times. And my grandma does not do stairs well so we help her with laundry and also with making her bed.) Also when we got there they needed more wood for the wood stove -- they've got the bulk stored in the garage and move a little bit at a time to the house for use. As it was already snowing pretty good at 10 when we got there yeah good thing we went out.
And then we went to a house cleaning -- or so we thought. It was actually help her with putting out Christmas decor which involved unpacking near to 150 mini crochet houses. So she could see what was what and what to put out because she doesn't have the room for all of them. She puts out only a few a year for Christmas. She let us choose, but it was still a lot. And we hung up some wall decor for her and though she said at that point she was going to let us head out because snow, we ended up helping her with getting the tree up and some of the ornaments. FOUR HOURS it took. Four. For Christmas decorating and she wasn't done *head desk* We'll be back there tomorrow for the actual cleaning. (I'll see if I can't get a photo of the village we made :D)
Then we went to run our actual errands. We managed to get our Yule alcohol (while we had a bit extra money because despite my repeatedly saying hey no we don't need to be paid, my great aunt and my grandma like to pay us for stopping by -_-), but when we went to the food coop, they had closed two hours before due to snow. Boo. We did manage the other store which was closing the bottle return area early, but we only had a few items so they let us return bottles. But in the store, the manager had let a lot of people go home early so there was only one register open which was awful because there were still enough people shopping to warrant at least the self check out to be open.
Then we stopped at Walgreens to get some house goods and Christmas stocking candy -- the russel stovers were on sale and... I may have splurged on a bag of Dove chocolates >.> -- before grabbing a quick bite from Burger King because we still had yet to stop for the evening meal for the dog I was pet sitting and by then it was 8 and it was still snowing. (I did get 'snow pay' for this sitting; an extra 10 which was super nice of the woman and she offered to let me stay the night at her house because the roads were bad. Aw.)
Home to do a quick shower and a quick friends feed check and then I went right to sleep because I'd taken an Aleve.
I was up of course at 7:30 (I don't know why) and went right out to do the snow shoveling which included making a big path because tomorrow is when the propane tanks are going to be changed out. Then I did a few internet things before we had a quick breakfast and headed back out to get the stuff we hadn't yesterday -- at the food co-op, a few other paper goods that are sale this week at Walgreens, a few things I forgot at the supermarket, get some bathroom stuff at the dollar tree. When we got home, with both cars out of their spots, I did some quick shoveling of what I hadn't been able to get and then we had dinner.
And though she was upset, I did get payment from room mate for the snow shoveling. It's upsetting to me because I'm cheaper than anyone she could've called, she had no plans for anyone else to shovel and had to go out herself today, she couldn't start the machine yesterday (I got it to turn over just fine so I don't know what's that about)... And yeah I asked for an extra 10, but that's because I needed to make that big mess getting to the propane tank. And I'm the tennant. This is the kind of attitude I'm done with. Just because I'm here, just because she's done some mother type of stuff for us, just because I'm the kind of person who goes above and beyond doesn't mean I should just do stuff for free. And if I'm now paying her more for rent then she should have more than enough to start paying us again for cleaning the house; I'm not going to start in with that, but at the least I want to be paid for shoveling the snow because I'm tired of being taken advantage of because it's just expected of me for being a nice person.
Bah.
Good stuff!
