I just got a call from a guy who claimed he was calling because "there are errors on you computer." When I asked which computer he told me "your computer running the operating system Windows." ORLY ( ... )

My immediate thought was to say that there was a website where people post telephone numbers of scammers, but then it occurred to me that the type of person who would think to Google the number is probably not the type of person who would fall in to a scam like this anyway. :/

It came from something like 00000000002 and 00000000003 because he called back after I hung up. I left this post unlocked for anyone Googling. I Googled it a bit while we were chit chatting and found a few things but not much. One forum chat was from just a few days ago. Apparently they get a lot of older people with this one. Jerks.

Yeah, I was just going to say that it sounds like they're targeting older people who don't know much about computers. I don't know why he'd try to call you back when you were obviously onto him!

Perhaps he needs to read She's just not that into you.

Really though the conversation above was condensed by a lot and I was surprised that he did not get that I was messing with him the entire time. At one point I told him I did not own any computers. I also told him I did not have any computers with windows on him. I told him I had three computers and didn't know which one...I was all over the place and he went along with it the entire time.

I even told him that I was going to take my daughter to the bathroom could I get a number to call him back (trying to get a number) and he waited instead.

ETA whoops the lady books is SHE IS THAT INTO YOU. haha. Maybe he did read it. :P

That is the funniest sh*t I have read in awhile. It is also really sad that people fall for that. Seems that common sense is going the way of the dodo.

I think the next time they call, you should be assy and try to pull a scam on him. Perhaps you can extol the virtues of Dianetics and get the caller to acknowledge that he needs to shrink his reactive mind...or pretend that you've got these great soaps and detergents from Amway that will make his life complete if he were to buy them from you.

I immediately thought of this song when reading your comment.

My grandma used to listen to it all the time.
