[When Vivi comes to her senses, she's in the forest, walking--really, 'wandering' would be more apt, since she has no idea how she got there, nor where she's going. Judging by the dirty state of her bare feet, she must have been at it for a while. Once she registers her surroundings, however, she stops short with a startled gasp. There's something ( Read more... )

[Still reluctant to form a team or anything like that, Kurt is just out in the woods with a soccer ball. He's not really practicing or anything, just getting some space to himself. Which leaves him reclining against a tree while he bounced the ball on an adjacent tree, lets the ball bounce back, and then catches it with his foot's monkey-like dexterity so he can repeat the process. He's practically running on automatic here, given he's leafing through the journal and barely paying attention.]

[The rhythmic sound of the soccer ball bouncing against a tree catches Vivi's attention--she's not sure exactly what the sound is, but it seems too regular to be natural. With luck, that means people who can help her. She starts heading in the direction she thinks it may be coming from, though at her current size, it may take some time. She quickens her pace a bit, hoping to get there before she misses her chance.]

[Kurt isn't going anywhere soon. He's got his headphones on for music and is enjoying his quiet time. He's pretty absorbed in what he's doing. Good luck getting his attention.]

[SEVERAL HOURS LATER...]

[The closer Vivi gets, the more unmistakable the sound becomes: it's someone bouncing a ball. She lets out a sigh of relief once she sees that someone is familiar, too. She cups her hands around her mouth and calls out to him, not having noticed the headphones.] Kurt-san! Over here!

[No reaction? Maybe she needs to get closer. She approaches from the side, not wanting to end up in the path of that soccer ball, waving one arm to try and catch his attention. ...there's got to be a better way to do this.]

[Not so much as a glance in her direction. The best she'll get is him lifting a hand to flip the page. Might not wanna get caught in the path of it.]

[Well, this is just frustrating. Vivi's afraid to get too close since he hasn't noticed her yet and an idle movement on his part could cause her some serious damage. She bends and finds a rock--more like a tiny pebble, really, but it's larger than a grapefruit from her perspective--and lobs it up, aiming to have it land on the page he's reading. If she can just get him to glance up from his book...]

[Insert more arm waving here.]

[He blinks as the pebble falls on his page. Now where did that come from. His first instinct is to look up. How would a tiny little rock get up there? A squirrel maybe?]

[No, Kurt; down here!]

[Well, at least that got a reaction out of him. She quickly bends and gets another pebble, aiming for the side of his cheek this time. ...sorry, Kurt. She's desperate, and using her journal to catch his attention hasn't occurred to her. >.>]

[Okay he was looking up and he didn't see a pebble fall! He looks down, around, and- wait, is that a person!? He abruptly shifts positions, stops playing with the ball, and crouches down to look at her.]

... hello?

[She gives a sigh of relief as he seems to notice her.] Kurt-san! It's me, Vivi.

[And she'll give him a timid wave hello, looking a bit sheepish.] ...I'm sorry about that, but I didn't know how else to get your attention.

[Sorry he's just staring blankly at her, no idea who she is. It's hard to tell when a person is so small. Or when you have headphones on still.]

What? Oh! [He pulls the earbuds out.] Sorry about that.

[It takes her a moment to realize he couldn't hear her--they don't really have those kinds of things were she comes from. She comes a little closer, pointing to herself and speaking loudly so her small voice will carry.]

It's Vivi! The Malnosso must have done this to me. [Waving a hand to indicate her whole tiny body--as if he wouldn't understand what she means.]

[Well his first impulse is to get her off the ground, so he offers a furry three fingered hand for her to climb on.]

Vivi? Wow... man, at least you're bigger than Nami was, yeah?

This happened to Nami-san too? [News to her; it hadn't come up before. Still, it helps assuage her mild worry that this might somehow end up being permanent.]

[She steps up to the offered hand, only hesitating a moment before climbing up to stand on his palm. She's dealt with giants before, back home, but it's a bit different seeing people she knows in such a state of...enormity.] Thank you, Kurt-san.

Ah, I'm sorry about the rocks.

[The nice thing about Kurt's hand, or at least according to Nami, is that it's much softer and cushiony than normal hands. She got rather comfortable there, actually. As for the rocks, he shrugs at that. He barely even felt them.]

Yeah, she was even tinier. I almost didn't see her. It happened to me once, too. [And Noel! But she was a fairy. All the women in his life seem to get tiny around him.]

It sounds like this sort of thing isn't exactly uncommon, then. [That's a bit comforting, in a weird way.] I hope it doesn't last very long, anyway.

[She settles herself a bit more comfortably in his hand, sitting so it's easier to keep her balance.]
