I'll post, even if just for you to know that there are people reading this, and that your attempts at capturing your experiences for others to enjoy is not completely in vain. It's Dom by the way, and I'm definitely enjoying reading both yours and Loucia's reports of life in Italy. Actually I prefer reading yours because Loucia's is peppered with internet slang and inside jokes or something close to that, which I suppose she shares with her friends from school back here in Canada. Worse still however are the replies to her journal. Seriously, those who are frequently responding need to learn about something that I like to call 'the english language,' and how to properly use it. It's said that language lies with the youth, or at least the future of language does. If this is the case, and Loucia's friends are the youth of today, then the future looks like a bleak, incomprehensible mess of ill communication.

Anyway, as for the basilica and your feeling overwhelmed at even trying to pass along the experience through words, I certainly know how you feel. I visited a cathedral in Paris (the name of which has slipped my memory at the moment) and not even the numerous photographs I took even came close to capturing how incredibly beautiful it was.

Well, I'm off to bed. Um, I suppose I will close with some food for thought, a quote I came across in some readings I was doing today:
"What thoughtful rich people call the problem of poverty, thoughtful poor people call, with equal justice, the problems of riches." R.H. Tawney, 1913.
