im gonna miss this..
camp was so unbelieveably great...i can not believe how great it was. there was hardly any petty drama just some small things that didn't amount to much...so heres my week day by day
wednesday:
the seniors met at the school at 8 well kayla and i were a little bit late...we had to go to middletown to get some stuff before. we finally made it there and then we realized hey we need paper to make signs so off we went in search of paper in the school that is no longer ours. we found a big roll of yellow paper so we took it. next we started off, the 63 detour sucks ass! lol so we followed it and mary turned from behind us. josh claims he was hanging out of the window yelling at us to turn but we didnt see him. so we drove for a while and ran out most of my gas before we turned around and asked for directions and stopped for gas. we made it out to camp. the 5 of us then made signs and realized we had left some stuff at home and wanted some stuff. so kayla and i left to get the bears stuff and some lunch and of course on the way back to camp it started pouring like no other; that was a fun drive! we put the signs up and went off roading in my van at camp! the old people got really mad but i had no other way to get out of the place i parked oh well! the band got there and got moved in...we then had our first practice of band camp;sectionals. that practice sucked. certain people didnt feel like listening to me but we did get a lot done. our first meal at band camp was dinner. evening practice went grrrreat. then we had 'evening activities' a.k.a. initiation. it was so much fun. we took them all over the trail behind the dining hall and across the bridge ( we almost lost brittany suitor lol) and since we werent allowed to take the matresses outside to throw them on we had to improvise. so we marched/flipped them into a baby pool. at the fire circle the freshmen and rookies met the bear and took the pledges. also we had a rededication pledge said by all current members of the band. people said it was beautiful so that made my day! that day it rained a lot so we couldnt have midnight march on that night like we had planned. ashley moved into the senior girls cabin which was a really good thing.
thursday:
wow does 6:30 come fast when you dont sleep very much! that morning we were introduced to the VMI marching style and our source of ridicule and fun for the week. 'left, left, left, left, right, left, column right' yay for that. breakfast was the first meal we carried the bear to. that thing got heavier and heavier all week! all of the practices were great and we worked so hard. evening activity that night was game night. we played mafia, find the seniors (darin found us all), pretzel, and the most fun was take a hike. that was the night we had midnight march. it was great. mary and i were the first two up, then amber just kinda showed up. we all went to get josh and he was so funny to wake up. i shook him for a lil bit saying josh get up josh josh get up we gotta do midnight march. he just sits up and looks at us like why are the senior girls in my cabin. so he kinda lays back down and then sits up and gives mary thr funniest look ever. we all went and tried to fill water balloons and that didnt work too well so josh and i went to wake up ben because he was going to help us get them up. so i go about it the same way i tried to wake josh up and it didnt really work on him either so josh yells ben and he rolls over and looks at us and goes back to sleep so i started pulling his sleeping bag off and then i was like wait guys like to sleep naked so i threw it back on him but he got up finally. he was getting his drum and i was like ben you need shoes and he was like shoes like he had no idea what they were. the 5 of us went and got the underclass girls up. they were not happy campers; they had stayed up the night before expecting it but it didnt happen so they were enjoying their sleep plus it was like 4:30. we got almost over to the underclass boys side when i was like hey ashley and kay are still asleep in our cabin so amber and i went and got them. i was like hey kids get up its midnight march be on the feild soon and i was hungry so i got some food while i was in there. we used whipped cream, chocolate sauce, strawberry syrup, water ballons, and eggs. we didnt do anything horrible it was so much fun! i didnt get dirty at all! we even got the skip morning practice later.
friday:
breakfast was the first thing anybody had to do. that was nice. practices were great. josh jumped off the roof of his cabin into the lake. he then gained the joshonians (charles and darin worship him now) then they drumline minus justin and plus darin jumped into the lake like 5 minutes before practice started. that was great! at circle that night josh asked ashley to senior dinner and it was cute and of course she said yes. that night was skit night. it went really well. we made fun of people as usual. drill team skit was funny but i dont think some people got it. oh well. ben and josh played guitar and sang. i had no idea ben could sing or play that well.they did the seal song. lol. ben sang songs he had written and so many girls were crying. it was so good. nothing spectacular happened that night after hours.
saturday:
saturday was just a great day the whole day. the morning was kinda boring but break was exciting and fun. kay, ashley, and i didnt start getting ready until like the last minute. the guys were waiting outside and we hadnt gotten dressed or put make up on or anything. lol. i went with ben. kay went with chris mann. josh took ashley. amber took sonya. so ben and i didnt match at all. i had on a black and pink dress and he wore camo and orange but it was funny. before we went out of the cabin for pictures ashley saw josh and ben picking flowers and she freaked out. we all went and got pictures taken. the table was so pretty. josh and ben competed the whole time. the candle started out between the two of them and then in between ben and me, then josh took it. so ben took it back and we did the cheesey holding hands around the candle, josh took it. ben tried to take it back and in the process spilled wax all over himself and the table. then we all danced to cara and jake playing the piano. it was so much fun. we did the whole drill team picture thing. the parents had stolen the bear earlier in the day and showed us the 'new bear' at senior dinner. it turned out to be a cpr dummy. later at practice his face disappeared and it scared me to death! so evening activity was the junior poem and the bears birthday. the poem was so incredibly great. i got the cutest stuffed bear! i made it through the poem with out crying but then they sang we love you seniors and i lost it. i could hardly sing back. then came my turn. i gave the bear to amanda white. i cried so much during that. she was so shocked and scared and cried so much. when i announced it we hugged and i thought she was going to pop my head off she hugged me so hard. she was shaking so bad. amanda was lost for words but i know how she felt. at least she knew what was happening. last year we were standing there and i was standing next to josh and cody announced who got the bear and i didnt hear it. next thing i know josh tackled me and i was like why are you on me and he was like hello allison you're head bear. but it was so great and sad. i feel so great about that decision and i completely and utterly trust amanda. well we chit chatted and had cake, josh took kermietta. then there was senior circle and the tape didnt want to work and somehow the boy is mine ended up on there and i didnt do it. circle was great and fun. i didnt cry during that but after i couldnt stand it i cried so much. megan jordan started it. i love you megan! then my girls attacked me and it meant so much to hear what they were telling me. it made me feel so needed and respected and just great. i really do love you all. and i already miss each and every person in band. later we had our senior meal and ben, josh, and darin played for us until like 3 in the morning. it was the best day i have had in a long time.
sunday:
the seniors slept in until the band came and played the fight song for us and it was great. the juniors carried the bear to breakfast, it made me sad and happy at the same time. at practice i got my M club pin i was waiting for all week. drill team looked really cute in our outfits. parent show was so great.
this was the best week i have ever had in band and i thank every person involved with it. it means so much to me that everybody worked so hard and was so great and respectful of me and the other seniors. this makes it so hard to move away in a year. i look at ashley's pictures and smile and cry at the same time.
