leccy bills?

Jul 21, 2008 21:00

hi folks. was wondering if anyone had any advice on disputing electricity bills?

we have received a final electricity bill from EDF energy (as we changed over to british gas) and they are trying to charge us £340 for a month and a half's usage!

we only live in a one bedroom flat and by my reckoning from what we use everyday it should be more like £25. we suspect that our old meter (the one we had at that time) was very old and faulty hence the wrong reading - but i don't see how we can prove this.

anyone got any advice on where i stand on this? considering that we never signed a contract with EDF, do they have any hold over us for this money? can they actually take us to court over it or can we simply refuse to pay until they send us a sensible bill?

anyone had any similar experiences? any advice will be greatly appreciated!
