Yeah, it's getting to the point where even financial aid isn't helping much anymore, especially with middle-income families. There's a large debate at uwgb right now involving students paying higher segregated fees to expand the campus to 7500 students and build additions to the sports center. uwgb is also the least-funded school in the uw system. so you're not alone--there's lots of ppl around the state who are really suffering financially, even though they are working several jobs. That other comment about the student loans was really good-- and remember that you can still apply for student loans besides those given on your financial aid. I hope that you're still able to go to Spain & keep your apartment if that's what makes you happy. Life is too short to be limited by finances! When my parents were still married, my mom & I always asked my dad to take a vacation because we had plenty of money & we had never gone on a real family vacation (besides camping & going to family reunions in Milwaukee). My dad always said no, we shouldn't spend the money. I remember that in 3rd grade before my parents got divorced, I asked them if we could go to South Dakota. I literally spent the entire summer planning the trip & fantasizing & looking forward to it--but it never happened. When my parents got divorced 2 years later, we had still never taken a family trip--and of course now it's too late, and we never will. Seize the opportunities while you can because life's too short!! ~Also I wanted to say that I'm sorry you had to listen to your racist uncles. I probably would've had a hard time not exploding (like that time I yelled at Pio for exploiting me at the assembly line lol). One time I got so ticked off at one of my uncles for always calling me antisocial at family reunions that I just stopped going to family gatherings for a year or 2 because I couldn't handle one of my worst faults (i.e., being quiet and shy) being thrown in my face time after time. This was the same uncle that called his wife (my aunt) fat while she had been trying to lose weight for several months.
