I'm looking forward to Hollow Ichigo. It's clear he's probably going to be a beast. I'm...sure that's not what Inoue meant when she was calling for help.. XD;;

I'd almost bet five dollars Ishida or Ulqui (inadvertently) has to protect her from him.

I won't take that bet, I'd lose my money for sure! It'll be verrry interesting if it winds up being Ulquiorra protecting her, hohoho. I'm still waiting for the next twist of his character - that would certainly set a cat among the pigeons!

Seeing Ichigo all Hollowed out should be fantastic! She's screaming and he stands up all glowing and dark and "Ichigo's not here right now, muwahahaha!" XD

Icon love! ^_^

XD;; I think it will be lovely for her character development. Her crush has turned into something bordering on unhealthy obsession and it's turned her rather...useless in this arc. All she wants is to be saved by 'Kurosaki-kun'. She's got this idealized notion of Ichigo of this perfect prince sent to save her instead of who he really is, but I think seeing him, THIS part of him will help wake her up, especially if she has to help fight the Hollow part. Maybe she can come back from the obsession and be of use?

Idk, I also want to see Ulqui save her... 8D~, I'd love to see some more character development with him before he goes where she's concerned. Ulqui has always treated Orihime differently.

Yes, if all this wailing and handwringing is meant to lead up to some serious character development, I'll be happy in the end. I'll still dislike the journey, but if it goes somewhere, even if I don't like where it goes, at least it'll have been for something and not just useless damsel-ing.

I think it's very possible she could help Ichigo return to himself, if they're both still standing after whatever the Hollowbeast does. She and Ishida are solid reminders of his life outside of all this, and luckily they're right there! :)

Ulquiorra has always treated Orihime differently. There are so many ways that can be interpreted, it's an endlessly fascinating exercise. :) Was it all because Aizen had plans within plans within plans? Was it because Ulquiorra has an agenda of his very own that he's been hiding along with his demon form? Could it be because she's influenced him somehow? I NEED TO KNOW! *flail*

Unlike Orihime's previous reversals of major damage, I'm less secure about her being able to reverse things this time. It wasn't just Ulqui saying she didn't have the power - we know she had huge difficulty rejecting Ulqui's handiwork previously, and we now can see just how easy a time he was giving Ichi that first time round. And Ishi - it's his hand - not a leg or a other random body part, but the thing that defines his identity as a Quincy archer the most. It's not the arm he wears his bracelet on, but still.

Despair? Ulqui brings it.

Yeah, even with the horrid, selfish "SAVE ME" at the end, I was still weepy with Orihime in the earlier part of the chapter.

But why is Kubo drawing them all with anorexic limbs? Even mullet boy needs a sammich.

There's definitely oodles of despair for the characters. I did goggle a bit at an archer losing a hand, that's incredibly harsh. But I still shrug it off. I'm not convinced it's just Ulquiorra's handiwork that she has a problem dealing with, I think it was partly because it was Ichigo. She healed Ulquiorra's victims in the tunnel when he first approached her, and they had half their bodies disintegrated (or am I misremembering?). I think there's something going on with Ichigo and his Hollow being in HM and getting stronger together, too. I could be dead wrong, though, we'll see ( ... )

Ah! This is how I remember it too, but I'd conveniently forgotten that detail. So long as Kubo hadn't forgotten it too, then yes, your reasoning about Ichigo's presence/her feelings for him hindering Orihime's resolve is a very good one.

The thing is, I can't remember if we saw those shinigami whole and alive again after. I don't have time to go digging for it just this moment, but I will check later. Regardless, if there was no specific indication at the time that she failed in that task, then if we didn't see them again we still can assume that we were meant to understand she succeeded - this, of course, being one of the ways in which we were shown her phenomenal cosmic power. :) If it comes out at this late date she did have trouble healing them because of Ulqui's influence, then I think that'd be a really poorly executed twist. But that's just IMO.

On the flip side, there's no reason why it couldn't be a new thing Ulquiorra does, or an involuntary thing he does to opponents he has a certain mental attitude toward. It could even be a specifically-chosen thing; Ulquiorra might not have bothered putting the special mojo on those two in the tunnel, for any number of reasons. Maybe they weren't worth the effort, or maybe he wanted to test how far her ability ( ... )

I love how hard core Ishida is in this chapter. 'Bout fucking time if you ask me. I don't know how he'll deal with loosing his hand, but at the same time, that was done to him in spirit form so would it happen to his body as well? Or would it just be when he's in spirit form? Curious minds want to know.

I, for one, am very excited to see Shirosaki (or the big bad Hollow beastie that Ichigo becomes). I think that if Ichigo goes all beastie Hollow, he could seriously kick Ulq's ass. But only because that side of Ichigo has no concerns for ANYTHING in his path and that's what's required to defeat Ulq in my opinion.

I think it'll be very, very interesting to see what Ichigo Hollowbeast does with the situation. I'm certain he has the capability to defeat Ulquiorra in that form, but will he retain enough of his mind to focus on that task? He could just as easily go on an undirected rampage, which would be disastrous for everyone.

Ishida was fantastic. :) He's not one of my favourites, but every now and then he does some awesome things that make me appreciate him.

I don't really like Ishida. He wasn't ever a favorite character, but I still went 'oh shi-' when he lost his hand. And I still think he was bad. ass. FINALLY. Without being able to use his archery, I want to see what he can do. I want to see it before Ichigo overshadows him again. -__-;

Orihime crying and such was a powerful image for me, but at the same time I wondered why she didn't redirect that anguish and desperation into something more useful. She used to be determined about wanting to help. Now she still wants to help, but her power and force is gone.

Ichigo going hollow? Oh snap! *waits to see what he looks like*

I'm wondering if he's going to follow the animal theme of the hollows so far. I kind of wanted to see Yami's release.

And if they switch scenes, maybe we'll see what's going on in fake!Karakura or, for the love of kami-sama, the Vaizards will pop in and stir up something. All the loose ends floating around is kind of annoying me because I know they're important but not HOW in a way that fits perfectly. D: Damn Kubo-esnsei.

Every time I see that icon, I wonder what Madagascar has to do with Domokun, because that's all I can think of when I see those teeth! XD

I've been pondering the animal theme, too. Ulquiorra has broken the trend, as he's not animalistic but rather demonic. I wish we'd see more shinigami manifest their zanpakutou, to find out if Ichigo is also different in that his takes the form of a man, vs the others we've seen. Hitsugaya is special with his dragon, of course, but Renji's is an animal (albeit an exotic mythical animal, so I'm not entirely certain if that qualifies, hmm). Argh, I need answers! (Yumichika's is a peacock, y/y?)

I'm starting to forget things. :o I need to read the series over again, apparently!

This chapter was so hard to read for me. Ichigo was so horribly dead for 18 fricking pages, I was terrified and weepy and all "WTF? What happened to my Bleach?"

Then Ishida lost his hand. I don't even like Ishida but it upset me so F'ing much. I don't recall any of the teens (okay, other then Ichigo) ever suffering something like that, and you know there's no way someone will heal him before Ulqui starts picking off other parts of his body, and that gush of blood was... OK, I'm probably over-reacting, but it's like now everything is really hardcore if the good guys can get hurt like that. Next thing you know people will start dying in Bleach.

Oooh, the mullet. When I saw it at the top of the page I went "OMFG GRIMMJOW!" IRL, and when I scrolled down I thought Orihime, like, collapsed from over-Kurosaki-ing (when did she lose the "kun"? Was I the only one disturbed by this?), then it hit me that it was Ichigo. DinosaurIchigo.

This is finally getting the epicness it deserves.

Yeah, that's my beef with the translations lately. They keep discarding the honourifics. She hasn't lost it, they're just not including it. I wonder if they've got a new translator who is more heavily in favour of localising than the previous.

Ichigo being horribly dead is pretty painful. Ishida losing his hand is actually huge if he doesn't get it healed - that would lead to some serious character development! :o If people start dying in Bleach, I'll be stunned. Happy if the deaths are properly epic and not gratuitous, too.

The mullet. *snork* Well, no one can accuse Ichigo of having good fashion sense, in any form! XD
