It's been a while, but then again it's always been a while since I wrote in here whenever I muster the time and desire to do it. It's really begun to feel pointless since almost everyone I have as a friend on here has forsaken LiveJournal for Facebook or Twitter or both. I'm not really sure why, I prefer the tl;dr approach to the maximum size of an update being constricted to about the length of a text message. That says a lot about our society I think. A picture is worth a thousand words, especially to those too lazy to read more than 140 characters. I've held out against it for a long time but I think it's almost time to give up and give in.

I refused to use Facebook for years after people started with it but eventually it got to the point where I actually had no choice but to make an account. People are too lazy to make multiple efforts to talk to people so they make one post on Facebook and as such I was forced to hop on the bandwagon lest I stop hearing about anything that was going on since my own laziness prevented me from hunting people down on MSN or by phone. Facebook isn't a luxury anymore, it's become a database of humans on the Internet and if you aren't part of that cult then you had better be prepared to be excluded from pretty much everything.

A wedding invitation was sent to my house in the mail a couple of weeks ago. It's sad but the first thing I thought was "what the hell is this?". The second thing I thought was "I can't believe that people still go to the expense of sending these things out." The final thing I thought was that if I get married I'm going to invite people the most archaic way I can think of at the time. So far that involves chiseling the invitation into a brick and throwing said bricks at people's doors. I'd throw them through windows but my sense of the thing is I'd want people to actually come. Ironically, I doubt I'll be able to chisel more than 140 characters on one brick. Even moreso, I would think that I'd need to have the brick read RSVP through Facebook to avoid having people chisel their own bricks to throw at my door. Who am I kidding? The bride always does all the invitations and junk anyway, I'll probably just give my two cents, get called a stupid asshole and go back to playing some kind of PlayStation.

I guess what I'm driving at is that Facebook has taken over the lives of nearly everyone I know. I can think of less than a handful of people that don't have Facebook that I'm still in communication with. I don't particularly like how it's taken over people's lives but it's sure made communication easier. At least if you can acceptably express yourself in the length of a text message.
