I Need A Doctor, Addicted to Doctor, Get Me The Doctor...
So after putting it off for YEARS, I've finally gotten into Doctor Who and it was only because I watched a season finale with a couple of friends while visiting for the weekend. Now I wonder why I put it off for so long.
It's not that I didn't think it was any good or that I wouldn't like it. It most probably was because I had so many things I was already interested in, and spending money on that, I didn't want to add to my already long list of interest. Since I have a job now (that I'm hoping to leave relatively soon for something better), I can spend more time and money on interests (i.e. all things Doctor Who.)
I went with a coworker and some friends to see Thor on Memorial Day weekend, and this was when I was starting to really get into the fandom (not that I'm not now). To waste some time before the movie (which I was slightly disappointed in - thank you ~Gynne for the heads up) we went to a comic shop. I had an inkling that there were some comics or action figures that I could get my hands on. Evidently there was a convention in Raleigh or something that weekend so EVERYTHING Who was gone.
You can imagine my disappointment.
So we went to another comic shop. Smaller, more quaint, and very much more organized. They had nothing. Zilch. Nada.
Que disappointment 2.0!
Then we went to Barnes&Nobles. I wanted to see if I could pick up some good deals on the DVDs or even some Who books.
The power was out on the entire block so I couldn't even get into the door nor go to the f.y.e. right beside it!
Add to the fact that I ran a little late to meet up with the guys, going through all this, then seeing a bad movie did not make for a good day.
But there was a silver lining in the clouds.
After the movie, we stopped off at a few more shops and I was FINALLY able to get some Who (I practically got a boxset for free) and one of the guys let me borrow his Season 1 of Torchwood that he just bought. Happy Day!
Now I'm all Doctor-Who-this and Doctor-Who-that, Torchwood-this and Torchwood-that. And because I'm such and awesome friend and person ;D I'm sharing my love for both with friends and spreading the mayhem.
