Chain: Hugs, of!
I [akujinjaginia] am starting this on Friday, May 01st in the year 2009, at 3:47 AM US/Central time... No more than twenty minutes (possibly less) since I first concieved the notion to.
Hopefully this will last in one form or another forever and beyond ^^
***EDIT*** Granted, I have nothing to do with the actual creation of the hug counting system and it's been in peoples lj profiles long before now [far back as 2005 for sure me thinks] anyway, but it was just now that I myself personally decided to start circulating its use---in this particular way---instead. (We'll see if it takes? lol)

Get hugs of your own
SPREAD THE LOVE!
Show things like the fact that you care or simply that this person matters to you when other things might fail.
Anytime you think of someone and they aren't here, miss them, wish they were here, wish you were there, or just generally feel like expressing your [positive] thoughts/emotions toward them... Visit their journal, find the hug post - which should always be kept near the top - and from there, simply click to give them more hugs.
If you just wanna really dote on them; Give them as many hugs as you can stand to!
If you just want to let them know they were on somebody's mind; One hug does the trick just fine. Kind of like how a single word can mean a lot. A single hug can go far if well intended and well received.
Comment on (and maybe give kudos to) this "Chain: Hugs, of!" entry if you feel the need to elaborate or identify yourself.
You can also comment just because.
But remember::Anonymous Love is better than Invisible Love::CLICK TO GIVE MORE HUGS!!!
You can lj-cut the "Spread The Love" and "Continue The Chain" info or not as you wish.
CONTINUE THE CHAIN;
Here's what you do: Visit the "Get hugs of your own" link which can be found just under the "*HUGS* TOTAL".
Then copy & paste this from the hugs counter and links to "Maybe you'll even be surprised." -- only you should put the code you got for 'getting your own hugs' in place of where my hugs are of course.
If you already have a hugs counter in your profile page = Just insert the code from your profile instead.
((If you don't know how to put code in your livejournal entry so it shows up as a counter and the proper links in place of showing the code itself, ask me, or find the lj faq about it.))
When you're ready, post it in a future dated entry titled "Chain: Hugs, of!" or something like that, so it will appear at the top of your page and can always be easily reached.
You may say whatever you'd feel like before and/or after "SPREAD THE LOVE" to the end of the hug counter and its links{ of which there should be two.}.
Now people can visit your journal and click to hug you when they're thinking of you too!
Watch your hugs counter to see how people care; Maybe you'll even be surprised. ^_~
