Needless to say, Nicole had to buy more ice cream for the three newesr members of the ‘Find Super Junior’ task-force that she created. It wasn’t the most creative name on the planet, but it got the job done.
“Noona, thank you for the ice cream.” Siwon said politely as they made their way back into the neighborhood.
“No problem. Where did you three go anyways? We were looking for you everywhere.” She asked while fixing her hair back into its usual ponytail.
“Well we were going to get some ice cream, but then along the way, we realized we didn’t have any money. Then Donghae found a skateboard, and we just road up and down the street on that hill over there.” He told her simply while pointing to a large hill just a few streets down from the ice cream parlor.
If she was in her right mind earlier, all she would have had to do is look up and she would have seen them. Oh the irony.
“Okay, now that we have you three, we need to find Hangeng. You said Kyuhyun and Henry went with him right?” Ryeowook nodded.
“Yeah. Henry is too small to go anywhere by himself, so Hangeng took him.”
Wait….what?
“Too small? How old is he?”
Ryeowook shrugged. “I don’t know, he can’t really talk, so I couldn’t ask him.” He replied.
She sighed.
Great so now they had a toddler; possibly a baby. And he was in the care of a bunch of kids. Kids who didn’t know where they were, who they were or where to go. She didn’t think this could have possibly gotten worse.
“Okay, well if they went to look for you three, they must be somewhere in the general area of my house. I know that area pretty well, so maybe it will be easier to find them.” The boys quickly agreed.
“We have faith in you noona!” Kangin cheered while giving her a thumbs up.
Five of the others followed suit and cheered her on. Heechul just smirked. Kid or not, that Heechul still acted the same. Always different from the group.
“Uh…yeah. Thanks guys.” She wasn’t sure she was very confident, but with them there, she felt a little better about her situation. As bizarre and surreal as it was. She wouldn’t have believed it if she wasn’t experiencing it. A good thing about this was it added some entertainment to her day. Tiring as it was, it was sort of fun. She couldn’t help but wonder how long all of this would last. Was it temporary? Would they stay like this forever?
The only thing that saved her from panicking was the fact that Hangeng at least had Henry. She had always thought that he seemed like one of the more responsible and dependable members of the group. If anything, they wouldn’t be doing anything too dangerous. At least she hoped so.
They look around for about half an hour, and Nicole was starting to worry again. They shouldn’t have been able to get very far, and she made sure to look up every street and peek into every backyard they came across along the way. Just where were they?!
“This is really starting to piss me off.” She grumbled. Ryeowook peered up at her with a frown.
“Noona…that’s a bad word...” He trailed off. Was she getting reprimanded by a six year-old? When does that ever happen?
“A-ah! Mianhae.” She apologized. He smiled up at her cutely before nodding. Geez. He’s lucky he’s cute.
A tiny cry pulled her out of her thoughts, and she quickly looked around. What was that?
“Did you guys hear that?” Leeteuk nodded.
“That sounded like Henry. I think. All babies sound kinda the same so I-“.
Nicole cut him off mid-rant as she looked around for signs of a baby. When she saw none, she couldn’t help but feel puzzled. She knew she wasn’t crazy because they heard it as well. She peered across the street from them and raised an eyebrow. There were a row of large trees across the street in a large field. The largest of the trees housed a large tree house amongst its branches. She never knew it was there. She could see the top of someone’s head barely peeking over one of the railings surrounding the house. With a shrug, she began walking towards the field slowly.
“Hangeng!? Kyuhyun?!” She yelled out hoping that one of them would acknowledge her.
A head looked up before a boy started jumping up and down. She thought he was jumping happily because he saw his friends, but the closer they got, she could see his face was panicked.
“Jungsu hyung! Jungsu hyung!” He yelled down in fright. Nicole’s throat tightened in dread when she could clearly see how scared he was. He looked like he was going to cry.
“Wae?” Jungsu yelled up at him.
“Henry! It’s Henry!” Nicole cursed. Loudly. She could clearly hear crying from the other side of the tree.
Was that Henry?
She ran around to the other side of the tree and checked out the branches above her before she caught the sight of tiny feet kicking wildly. Red, puffy little cheeks were covered in tears and she froze. Henry was above her on a branch that looked too thin to hold his weight. His shirt was snagged on the end of the branch as he dangled over the ground. He was crying and wailing in fright as the branch wobbled back and forth. She lied earlier when she said it couldn’t get any worse. It could, and it just did. Henry dangled a good twenty feet in the air and the only thing stopping him from plummeting to the ground was his thin shirt being stuck to the branch.
A slight ripping sound hit her ears.
