I think all my doubts about coming here were flushed down the toilet these past few days.
Friday night:
Jamie, his friends and I planned on going to VEGA for some dancing. We get on the train and even though I had been to VEGA before and knew where I was going, Jamie's friend decided to lead the way. So we got off on the totally wrong station and try to walk there. An hour and a half later, after walking through the red light district, we get there too late for the free cover. They wanted to charge us 10 dollars plus the really expensive drinks inside...so we turned around and went home. I'm never letting a guy give directions again ;)
Saturday night:
Sarah's kollegium threw a huge party with a dance. I went there with Jamie, and then I ended up in Sarah's kitchen meeting really cool people. Then we went dancing..hung out in some peoples' rooms...didn't get home until 5am! Danes party soooo late!
Sunday night:
The super bowl at midnight! Jamie, Sarah and I met some people at a bar and watched the first ten minutes...very exciting by the way! But then we got into a looooong debate about "the best way to display artwork." So you all know I had an amazing time! I again didn't get home until 5 am.
Tonight:
It was the newcomer's party at our kollegium bar. We had a tour of the kollegium, and I learned how to rent the sauna! Woot. Then we went back and hung out until midnight or so. I was talking it up with the Danes and it seems like my personality meshes reaaally well. I made at least three friends who want to see me again. Actually, I might be hanging out with one of them tomorrow. They're going to show me where good local music is in the city. I also found out that I can speak Danish with an almost perfect accent! They were all like "You're really sharp, no?" Hahaha!
So yeah, even though I really miss people from home, I get along with the Danes as well as I had expected. It's so nice to talk politics with people and not worry about offending anyone. And their sarcasm is absolutely hilarious. It's nice being in a "freshman year" of college again without feeling the pressure of making best friends. I already have those waiting for me at home!
