So, this is from my sister (the big time writer who lives in NYC now)... She is looking for input from Alaskans... So I have included her request e-mail... I'd really appreciate it if anyone who felt like it would leave a comment, or if you feel like being more anonymous, message me. It would be great! Thank you!
"Hi -- I'm afraid I'm jumping on the Palin bandwagon, too.
I was talking to a friend recently who suggested I write a freelance story about what Alaskans think of Palin...and, after mulling it over a bit, I think it's not a bad idea. I'll shoot for the Times first...but they've obviously had some pretty extensive coverage, so I imagine it'll ultimately be a better fit for something like the Daily News or the Huffington Post.
I'm curious what people think about the woman herself -- we've heard a lot about the Bridge to Nowhere...are there are any other projects or any other state business that is perhaps not as well known but is also revealing of her character? Were you surprised when McCain picked her? Do you think she's ready?
And...what impact do you think this has had on what the rest of the nation thinks of Alaska? Do you think people know more about the state nos? Do you think they're getting an accurate portrayal?
There's also been so much fuss about how Palin knows how to dress a moose, I'd love to talk to someone who actually knows how to do that...and to maybe get recipes and such and pitch something to a food magazine or Web site.
If you have any thoughts or can think of anyone for me to talk to, I'd really appreciate it! I can do phone or email -- whatever's easiest. And my schedule is really flexible.
Hope all is well...!
Best,
Lisa"
